The First Day of College

Ever since my senior year of high school, I’ve been impatiently waiting to attend college. I’ve always sought after more responsibility and independence in my life, and college seemed like the perfect place to achieve just that. Through an academic scholarship, I was able to attend Western New England University part time. Lord knows I couldn’t afford college without a scholarship. The first day was full of new experiences, old friends and interesting classes. While most students’ first day of school is stressful and nerve racking. I ended up having quite a pleasurable experience. Hectic was probably the best word to describe the beginning of the day. It wasn’t bad enough that I had to be up an hour early for my am classes, but as much as I prepared for the first day I couldn’t find my History books. I didn't really want to go to class unprepared for the first day, but my father told me it would be for the best. I arrived at the campus at about seven thirty. I entered the busy parking lot, I had been at the campus quite a lot before, but I never quite understood the enormity of the campus till I seen it with all of the students and cars. I hadn’t received a parking sticker yet so the campus police wouldn’t let me park. Luckily, I had a friend who lives by the university, so I was able to park in her driveway. I'll always remember the completely uncomfortable feeling of walking in a new environment for the first time, and having no idea of what general direction any of my classes were in. I didn’t see anyone that I could ask for help, so I decide to just casually stroll down the halls till I came across a familiar face. I was astounded by how much WNEU reminded me of my high school.
