These traits are his loyalty, his bravery and his quick thinking. Will was a very loyal ranger, never even thinking of abandoning a friend or a kingdom. This loyalty is best shown with the part in the book where Will shot the boar that was charging Horace (a battle school apprentice who had often bullied Will as a kid, and even a month prior to this event), saving his life. Horace asked Will why he had saved him, and Will replied that he had never hated Horace. “Horace, we may have fought in the past,” Will said “but I don’t hate you, I never hated you.” Another example is when Will, Halt, and another ranger named Gilian were stalking the kalkra, giant bear-like creatures that could stop your heart if you looked into their eyes.
He didn’t fail any of his battles but dies in his last battle and the dragon as well. “Hail King Beowulf!” Beowulf was a Geat warrior who faced Evil monsters. In his first battle, he is the good because he fought the evil he sailed to Hrothgar’s kingdom to fight the monster. The battle with the evil mind of Grendel’s mother who seeked revenge for her son. It was Good vs.
Gandalf then reappears to warn them all of an approaching army of goblins and Wargs. The dwarves, men, and elves band together, but only with the arrival of the eagles and Beorn (which was JUST in time) do they win the epic Battle of the Five Armies. Thorin is fatally wounded and resolves his differences with Bilbo before he dies. Bilbo only takes a small amount of his treasure and gives the rest to the Lake-men and the Wood-elves as recompense, as he was a very simple fellow and didn’t need very much at all. Still, the little that he did take was still a fortune and lasted him for the rest of his life (and it amazed all the other folk that it never seemed to run out!).
In the story “ The Outsiders” by S.E Hinton each character feels acceptance from someone or something. Pony feels acceptance from Darry, Johnny and Bob feels acceptance from their parents, and Dallas feels acceptance from society. At the beginning of the novel, Ponyboy blames Darry for being too strict and always bothering him for not using his head. He recognizes the sacrifices that Darry has made to raise his two little brothers, but still thinks Darry just doesn't care for him at all. But in Chapter 5, when Soda and Darry come to the hospital, Ponyboy has a revelation.
George acts like he is the parent and Lennie is the child in their friendship, which may give evidence why Lennie acts sometimes childish in the book. Lennie tells us that he had the mouse to “put with my thumb while we walked along”. This can give us evidence that he is childlike as he has to fidget and touch things. It reminds the reader of Lennie's mental handicap and how gentle of heart he truly is. Although Lennie killed the mouse, he never meant
The ring was a major factor that made Bilbo become invisible , which indeed helped in battle to defeat his enemies . The ring make Bilbo defy the laws of conventional Hobbit living . First Bilbo was helping himself out of trouble but with the ring by his side he heightened confidence , he started helping out his friends himself . The ring helped Bilbo saved the dwarves from the giant spiders , wood elves and many more . The greatest personal accomplishment he made was giving away the arkenstone to Bard to create peace .
Like in every man’s life, his life included plenty of trials and troubles such as the death of his friend which pushed him to seek for immortality. This made him to be opposed to himself and that is why he went to look for Uta-napishti. “I’m afraid of death, so I wander the wild, to find Uta-Napishti, son of Ubar-Tutu” (tablet 9, 5). Moreover, this experience changed Gilgamesh’s view of the human condition. It helped him become a better person because it taught him what is to be a man which means that every man is called to die one day or another.
He knew, as did Johnny that they were the ones who accidentally set the church in flames, so saving the children’s lives no matter the outcome of his own was the least he could do. “I'll get them, don't worry!” I started at a dead run for the church and the man caught my arm.”(p.91). Even not feeling well, Ponyboy still fought in the rumble. The “Greasers” know that they must be loyal to each other because each other is all they have. Ponyboy knew that his friends needed him so he fought.
Odysseus sacrificed his safety so the men could control the ship without falling for the sirens, and dying (745-753). This act created a stronger relationship with the crew because of the fact that he sacrificed himself to save them. Odysseus truly faced and overcame adversity. It wasn’t just for himself either; it was for the safety and well-being of his men. In The Adoration of Jenna Fox, there were a couple characters that faced adversity.
At the beginning of the novel, we see Dumbledore’s role as Harry’s protector. Dumbledore shows compassion and love for Harry as a baby after his encounter with Lord Voldemort, as he steps up to the role of a father-figure to Harry. As a father would wish his child to have a great future, so also is Dumbledore’s wish for Harry. After the tragic death of Harry’s parents, Dumbledore decides that Harry will live with his Muggle aunt and uncle - the Dursleys, until Harry is old enough to understand the mysteries behind his existence as “the boy who lived” (pg. 24).
