The type of work that they did usually led to a relatively isolated life as men moved from one farm to another. Relationships that formed were often evolved around drinking buddies and then moving on to find additional work. Lenny and George had each other. They knew the good and the bad about one another and accepted each other. They kept a dream alive for each other.
Amy L. Mills Foundations Ronald McDonald House My experience at the Ronald McDonald house was something I gained so much from and I am very appreciative to have been a volunteer for that day. We spent the morning preparing food for the sick children and their families, but for me the experience was much more than just being able to cook and prepare food. We started the day by cooking breakfast for the children. Slowly the children and their families came down to eat the food we prepared. The children had the most amazing personalities and were so happy, which amazed me, knowing what they are going through.
The division of work – When they allowed the employees to fix different instruments in the company and it caused a distraction. Unity of command – the order would come from the boss and the worker follows the order in the past. Esprit de corps – This principle was discovered after he went on needed an Outward Bound course and learned the value of teamwork. Stability and tenure of personnel – Chris giving his employee formal training so they can do their job well. 2.
Their dangers are self-created but are group expressed; that is, they are groups tensions, which are alleviated when the group becomes united as the pretenses and protections of the town are stripped away. The context of civilization here is survival. The entire group must contribute and perform as a cohesive unit to overcome such obstacles as Lucy’s birth and the attack by the Indians as well as to finally reach their destination – they must work as a family or a community. Such members of the group take on individual roles of a family. Ringo and Dallas act as the newly married couple ready to start a family, Curley and Doc Boone act as fatherly figures for Ringo and Dallas, Hatfield acts as a husband/protector over Lucy in the absence of her real husband.
Volunteering in schools, neighborhoods, and the local festival help bring unity to the community. This gives its residents an opportunity to spend time together and be responsible for the livelihood of one another. This coming together of the residents with common goals helps the community thrive as a whole which benefits its future success. Investing monetarily is also a part of giving back to help the community. This helps to support those who are less fortunate and give to causes that need a solution or cure.

He was also a devoted voluntary worker in the community who strived to make it a better place to live in. those who knew him thought he was a friendly, hardworking man and some went to the extent of calling him intelligent man. However there was another side of John Wayne Gacy that only a few knew had ever witnessed. Background
God a’mighty, if I was alone I could live so easy.” The way that George expresses him self here is very important in understanding how Steinbeck wants us to see this character. Although we see how George would like to live a carefree life with nobody to have to look after, we also get to see that he truly loves Lennie and although he may complain about having to look after him he likes the company and we see this later on when he is talking to Slim the skinner at the ranch, “Course Lennie’s a God damn nuisance most of the time,’ ‘but you get used to goin’ around with a guy” this is the time where we see that if George was to lose Lennie he would also become disadvantaged as he would have nobody to confide in and would probably go insane with loneliness and self pity. Lennie gives George a reason to live and something to work for, he also helps to keep George inline as he thinks about Lennie before himself so looks after their “stake” and saves to buy the small plot of land they dream
If it wasn’t for Gay’s help, Mack and the boys wouldn’t have gotten the truck running, and they are grateful for Gay’s generosity for fixing the truck. I believe that Gay’s way of life of helping one another is most helpful. Steinbeck is telling us to live our lives with a purpose in helping others. For example a teacher, a person who instructs and teaches knowledge to others to better understand the importance of things taught. When you help someone by teaching the things you learned, that individual will carry that information and pass it to another person and so forth creating a circle of
The construction of a coffee shop and a vast kitchen provided the basic amenities which the people valued. It took a weight off of their shoulders knowing they could have a place to eat and sleep when money was low. In essence, this was the first step in improving their lives; having a place to call
