Health Chronic conditions such as asthma can cause children to have time off school, infections like meningitis causes development delay. Disability Cerebral palsy can result in brain damage and can cause problems with mobility. Sensory impairment Hearing difficulties are one of the most common causes of language delay and speech problems in young children. Learning difficulties Down syndrome can result in development delay , learning difficulties and health problems. Family background can effect a child's development by the family's values the culture and the way the child is encouraged and cared for all can effect the child development.
Recognising and Responding to concerns about Child Development Any concerns that staff may have about the development of children and young people should be reported. Recognising concern, allows staff /carers to intervene and help the child, and inform the parents of the concerns and possible solution for the problem. The quicker the issue is dealt with the better this is for the child’s development. Whereas if a problem is left unresolved or delayed, the more damaging this could be for the child’s development. Difficulty with reading and writing If a child is having problems with reading and writing this could cause concern.

They may be exposed to prejudice or discrimination at school for that reason that they could be treated differently than the rest of the children. They may be bullied or teased by other children which will affect their self-confidence and in turn affect their learning ability and development. Disabilities are categorised in different forms i.e. learning or physical.
This target will help the child to progress to the next level within their work. The reasons why practitioners need to have effective planning are because it allows them to plan for each child’s individual needs. We plan according to the age and stage of the children, this is because each child works at different levels and rates, this way if the work is too hard for the child and they can’t do it then this can lower their self-esteem and self confidence, the work being too hard they may just give
This is important in children to build their creativity and language skills by learning how to get their ideas across to others. In the work setting it is also very important to share ideas and thoughts, perhaps about a new activity or a way to tackle a challenging child. Good communication is essential in order in work effectively with small children and parents. Without communication it would be impossible to meet the needs of not only the children we would be caring for but also the parents who put their trust in you to take care of their most precious gift of all. Having good communication skills helps us to build strong relationships with not only the children we would be caring for but also the parents and colleagues.

Effective communication is very important for variety of reasons: Making relationships – Effective communication helps to create new relationships not only with a child, but with parents, careers and colleagues too. To make new relationships effectively you need to use verbal and non – verbal communication, and you need to be friendly, also smiling a lot. Developing relationships - it is important not only to make new relationships, it is also very important to develop and maintain it. To do that professionals need to maintain friendly and supportive approach, and be interested in what other people are doing or feeling. Expressing thoughts and ideas – in order to encourage children and young adults to talk about what they learned and what they think, or encourage them to express themselves imaginatively, communication skills are also needed.
And some young people and children may be abused or exploited so, they need to look after away from their families. The reasons are as follows: 1) Bereavement: most look after children will have experienced so many disruptions in their lives. This may include painful experiences such as family bereavement. As a result the children’s education may become affected and they may be below their expected class average. This will have caused from poor concentration, the child may also need specific help in their work and class before any sort of progress can be made.
If this is the case the child could start to under achieve and decide to not concentrate as hard on their school work. Doing this may also cause the child to act out in their class and disrupt other children’s learning, as the teacher needs to take time out of the scheduled lesson to tell the child their behaviour is unacceptable. B) How a health factor may impact on a child’s social or emotional development: A health factor that may impact on a child’s social and emotional development could be their height and weight for example: If the child is either short for their age of over weight they may experience a form of bullying from their peers, have a lack of friends at home and at school. This could affect them both socially and emotionally. Socially the child could be a loner or on their own during break or lunchtimes at
Some of these disabilities are caused by the parent not taking full care of themselves and the baby. When a parent or doctor notices that something is not right or that the children may have a disability intervention is needed as early as possible. Early intervention makes a big difference in a child’s life. When a parent accepts the fact that their child has a disabilities it can open up their eyes to see that there are many options available to help assist and even overcome certain disabilities. With early intervention there are many services that parents can use relating to their child’s disabilities.
