These stages must be followed in the proper order for the policy to be completed properly and successful. The stages have a direct impact on one another and are typically referred to as a cycle. When the policy is being evaluated, it may reveal issues within the policy that need to be addressed. Each of these stages will need to be repeated and reviewed. This will ensure that errors and mistakes are reduced or eliminated when implementing policy.
I have to act in the person’s best interest but instead of encouraging them to avoid risks I have to support them and enable them to taking part in activities. I have to act in the individuals best interest, keep them safe, carry out risk assessments, promote informed choices but also respect their decision and right to live their life as they choose. If the risk seems great to me I would document it and discuss the matter with my manager. Another area where duty of care dilemmas may arise are confidentiality issues. When a confidential information is shared with me and it concerns safeguarding and there is a possibility of harm or someone’s wellbeing is threathened I might have to make a decision and disclose this information.
When confronted with conflict, people have response with courage or cowardice When confronted with conflict, it is often faced with difficult, or even threatening, situations. Often when humanity finds itself in conflict, coping with the struggle of interpersonal, cultural and racial, inner or moral conflict can bring either courage or cowardice out in people. This is made evident in Bruce Beresford’s “Paradise Road,” but also in real life situations. It is naturally human to experience conflict, we will all be forced to respond to conflict at various times and various forms throughout the course of our lives, and in order to live serenely we attempt to avoid and resolve conflict. Those who experience moral conflict are truly tested and the core of their characters brought into sharp focus as they make sense of their experiences and wether the will response with courage or cowardice.
We view through our history that major conflict in the form of war and political matters lead may to experience horrific life-changing conflicts. Conflict is beyond the reaches of our control, as we may be wholly influenced by others and their actions, we may also be tested in an extraordinary way that can be show us the different circumstances we are placed in. this may also show the people who seem least weak, are capable of what they are doing. Those who experience conflict are truly tested as they must stay focused and make senses of who is around them, and what they are experiencing. We view through the film Paradise Road by Bruce Beresford, as the conflict of enduring a war has encompassed during a cultural misunderstanding.
Conflict will always exist when an individual or group is composed with different people with different approaches and ideas with dealing with situations. Conflict cannot be avoided and is inevitable in letting people develop and provide a constructive and possibly beneficial outcome in managing the conflict. In times of conflict an individual is more often given a choice, whether to resolve it or heighten it. Throughout certain situations people have the opportunity to respond, react or withdraw when encountered with conflict. An individual’s characteristic, beliefs, morals and values are tested in times of conflict and determine how they respond and approach conflict.
Critical thinking is important in business because decisions have to be made using facts and those decisions can affect the business and many or all of its workers. Critical thinking when effective involves
To achieve a personal centred way you need to understand the individual. The best way of doing this is to not just understand their current situation but understand their life. Their past will give clues into their likes, dislikes and beliefs. Understatement will be achieved, as well as a sense of trust. It is important not to presume that past preferences are related to current ones.
Another dilemma would be knowing when to break confidentiality and share information. If you have any concerns about an individual or feel they are at risk you need to share them and report it, it is always better to be safe than sorry. Other dilemmas in our setting could be:- • Staff falling out, • Break confidentiality, • Swearing and behaviour, • Absent staff members, • Lack of team work. 2.2 Describe how to manage risks associated with conflicts or dilemmas between an individual’s rights and the duty of care. There are many ways to manage risks associated with conflicts and dilemmas:- • Allowing individuals to explore with guidance, • Making individuals aware of potential hazards and dangers, • Allowing individuals to acquire life skills through learning how to cope with risky situations, • Staff ignorance, • Parents are a risk to staff if reported to social services.
