However, patients and physicians have reported that smoked marijuana provides relief from migraine headaches, depression, seizures, insomnia, and chronic pain (135). In this regard, it can be understood that even in this generation, marijuana is still believed to be helpful in assisting the treatment of certain diseases. As such, in depth and more extensive research and study must be done in order to further support such claims. Moreover, recent studies have also supported the claims that marijuana can be used effectively in treating a number of diseases. It has been emphasized that one of the medical uses of THC or delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol,
The drug addicts lose all respect for themselves and these addictions end up taking over their lives. Maybe the addicts are right when they say the addictions are their own fault and aren’t a reflection towards their troubled childhood. Addicts may just get caught up in the wrong situation at the wrong time and end up getting addicted to a drug just to fit in with peers. Drug addictions will create emotional distress no matter whose fault it
Teenagers and young adults who take steroids can have even more serious side effects. For example teenagers who take steroids can end up not growing as tall as they would naturally because the steroids can shut down the growth of bones. One of the more serious steroid side effects in teenagers is suicidal tendencies because taking steroids can effect the mind by causing mood swings and irrational anger. Steroids are drugs that mimic
As with soma, prescription drugs (where prescribed or otherwise) provide a quick fix for physical or mental problems and/or a way to get high. But these drugs also hurt the users, with addiction, bodily functions failing and making them be violent. The use of drugs has severe effects on the users and not only in reality but also in Brave New World. Usually people turn to drugs for relief and contentment, they want to be in a state of mind where they can feel things which they usually can’t and to be in a state of pleasure so they turn to them. Most do not realise the harsh long term effects these drugs can
While certain drugs are great for pain management, such as oxycontin and other narcotics, they are also great for a “high” and are commonly abused (“Prescription Medications”). Doctors have to adhere to strict guidelines while prescribing these medications that were implemented by the federal government (“Practitioner’s Manual: Section V Valid Prescription Requirements). These guidelines can sometimes interfere with a doctors intuition and own plans of action. Another example of this is marijuana. Many patients undergoing chemotherapy swear by the magic that is pot.
Bennett’s chapter against the legalization of drugs he speculates that the legalization of drugs would remove the criminal stigma that currently labels drug users. Bennett theorizes that a removal of this stigma would take with it the hesitation felt by the majority of people who see no positives in a life of crime. He is talking about every drug which one would agree that such a broad decriminalization would send our country into a downward spiral filled with addicted citizens barely able to function within society. The hard drugs that Bennett describes are in fact a danger to society such drugs like PCP, heroin or crack cocaine. However, he barely touches on the fact of marijuana alone.
In fact drugs are being encouraged for anyone in need of it. However in today's society drugs seem to result in chaos rather than stability. It is illegal to take drugs with the exception of prescription drugs. Sadly in our society, drugs are also quickly available for those that want it. Unlike soma, the drugs produce numerous negative aftereffects.
My friend is thinking of taking the drug Methampethamine normally known as “P”, so I am going to persuade him not to take the drugs and show the risks and effects it has after you start taking it. I think that you should not take this drug because it is an “A class drug” and it is very addictive. Not just that, it rots your teeth, makes you behave in a violent matter and has some long term effects and these can ruin your life. “P” is a very dangerous drug which makes you do a lot of stupid things that you as your normal self would not do. This has a lot of long term effects, like depression and poor health.
Prohibition was a mistake because it took away people’s freedom of choice to decide for themselves whether to consume alcohol; people who want to consume alcohol will still be able to make it or purchase from illegal sources; alcohol made from illegal sources pose a threat to the health and safety of the consumer; leads to loss of taxes and jobs; and criminal organizations will profit from prohibition leading to increased illegal activities. (www.philforhumanity.com/Prohibition_of_Alcohol.html) Prohibition caused a lot of controversy in the United Sates in the 1920’s. The 18th Amendment took away the freedom of
By making drugs legal we are lowering the standards of our country. Drugs are dangerous and can not only harm the person using them, but also the persons that user comes in contact with. If illegal drugs are legalized criminal acts, health problems due to drug use
