As Ehrenreicht says the Family is the place where we go for comfort and to relax, but it is that very notion of family being a safe haven makes it all that much... In my opinion the ideal family is a group of people that have emotional, blood, or legal ties. The ideal family to me includes a monogamous marriage between two adults who are socially and financial dependent. These adults should also care for young including biological children, adopted children, or mentoring for disadvantaged children. The parents should teach the children, and also provide proper education.
Incarcerations can also have a major impact on the community. Thus, this form of punishment can affect everyone around the punished women. Incarceration of women with children is a very large percentage that has a huge impact on their family. 1.3 million Women are convicted primarily on drug crimes. The United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world since 2000, and 52% are parents.
The stream of children looking for homes is also endless and even these days young moms are giving up babies. Adopting a child will offer the kids a family, gives the kid a big brighter future, and helps a family who cannot have one. Adopting a child is beneficial for everyone. There are some parents that feel adoption is an unnatural process. However, if the circumstances are right thus, the adoption process can benefit a child and the new parents in ways neither could have before.
As it may be difficult to discover our true identity, it jeopardises our ability to find a sense of belonging, because we are weary from our previous unpleasant experiences. Our closest connection ever since we were children, would be our parents, their teachings, traditions and values ultimately forms our beliefs when we’re still developing and learning. During this period of time, we strive to live by our parents’ rules and morals, and that’s not only because we respect them, but we’re still trying to find our own identity. Over the time as we grow up, as we immerse ourselves with different kinds of people during our time in high school, and thus we start to gain experience through different kinds of relationships. On this journey towards adulthood, to find our identity we could start to value different things in our lives as opposed to what we were taught by our parents.
From families we receive encouragement, love and life lessons. Families are the key tools that shape individuals into the person they want to become. Society says the best families are the traditional families. But in today’s society family structures have changed. In today’s society families consist of civil unions, single parents, and families that try to utilize and keep the same values that were present in the 1950’s.
Values are what you want and need to achieve the goals you set for yourself and your family. Values can be obtained in many different ways. The most important piece for building values is your family. I am responsible as a mother for teaching my children what is right or wrong before, any other influence reaches them. I can only wish that what I have already instilled in my two children is a reflection of myself as a parent.

The relationship with parents/carers is the first and most important relationship in a child’s life.They need to have a strong bond or attachment to their primary carers to feel loved and secure. Parents are a childs first teachers so they build the basis for the development. It is important that the child is praised for their actions and not criticised to help build their self esteem and self worth. It is important for children and young people to have friends as they learn social skills that will be important to them throughout their lives.
