RUNNING HEAD: RIGHT TO DIE Right to Die Roseann Martin PHI 208: Ethics and Moral Reasoning Instructor: Susan Smith 6/24/2014 RUNNING HEAD: RIGHT TO DIE 1 End of life medical issues are a very controversial topic. Everyone has their own opinion and ethical stand point on the right to die or die with dignity issue. This is an issue I personally feel very strong about. I worked in nursing homes as a certified nursing assistant for a long time. I have seen the health and quality of life of people deteriorate every day.
I could see the catheter bag hanging from the bed which was filling up with blood instead of urine. I thought I was going to bleed to death as I can not accept blood transfusions, due to my religious beliefs. After a week in the hospital, the fluid in the catheter bag started gradually turning yellow. On day seven, the doctor came to my room and gave me the best news that I have heard in a long time. He said “Kerry you can go home but will need to follow-up with your doctor”.
To all these basic stuff he has to find job and all this is like you start your life from beginning. I am also Immigrant and I went through the same situation. When I came here first time I leaved with my relatives until got my apartment. That four month was like you are leaving your life in hell. I wasn’t able to get any of my freedom.
After all that was done I just laid around seemed like forever. the doctor finally comes back and tells me that I had a fractured pelvic bone and that i had messed up some vertibre in my back and that I would have to stay at the hospital for a while. So I sat in the ER room for over half the day waiting to get a room that I could go to, they finally come and get me to take me to my room. once we get there the nurse come in
Healthcare Issues As the discharge planner for Mr. Trosack, I will need to address several issues before I can safely send him home. He has had several new diagnoses while in the hospital for a fractured hip, and the hip fracture will be the first issue I will address. He will not have the mobility he had before his fall and even though he wants to be independent, he will continue to have issues at home that needs to be addressed. Second, he has been diagnosed with diabetes, and he is in denial about this. He and his family feel that he will be able to control his blood sugar level with diet alone.
I was 41 headed on heart failure. I know I had to make a profound change in my life. I read such books as Kiss the Fat Goodbye by Gary Null and Life Force: Living on Life Foods by Dr. David Jubb. I used the knowledge I acquired from these books to undo some of the damage I had done to myself throughout my life from poor nutrition and horrible life style habits. It took a lot of discipline .
How you deal with the conflict can determine the success of the task to be completed. In order for conflict to be resolved, we need to be neutral. We need to keep an open mind. If someone gives an idea or opinion, think about it first before responding. We need to keep an open mind and understand where the other person is coming from.
If I was to work with a construction company such as Turner Construction I would observe workers and see if any display a drop in moral or show a great deal of fatigue and disinterest in their work. If this is so it would be a huge burden on the company’s work. At that point it would be my duty to take this in employee and set him or her up with counseling or an out-patient program. The benefits of becoming a drug & alcohol abuse assistance coordinator with Turner Construction, as stated on their website, would include many such as medical, dental and vision. That would include everything from prescription drugs, family dental plans to eye examinations.
Age, race, and family history play a major role also in whether or not you will develop thiscondition, but another key component is what foods we take in that have a serious affect.Dr. Vivian Fonseca states that, “The reason why people of specific ethnicities are at greater risk of Type 2 Diabetes are complicated and not fully understood” (Everyday Health). This issue really touches home with me because so many family members and friends that I know have this condition. It’s really sad and hurtful to have to see someone you love and care about have to constantly poke their self with needles and have to take so many medications just to make sure they are on the right path to their sugar levels not going up to high. My solution for this Diabetes epidemic would be to go out to different communities around the United States, sort of like a tour, and bring awareness to these communities.
