In the developing field of Early Years, it is becoming more and more important for practitioners to have an awareness of the many topics that impact on the provision available to young children. Teachers need direction in order to meet academic proficiencies and to keep student’s interest (Laureate Education, Inc., 2010). After exploring several learning theories and strategies, my own teaching practices are most often modeled by several strategies and learning theories. The Constructivism Theory resonates in some of the techniques I am using in the classroom. Reflecting on student activities and the design my lessons ; I find students are most often engaged in learning activities that are student driven and lead to students constructing their own conclusions. Student often work at stations and learn through team building and planned movement.

Using material from item A and elsewhere assess the view that the education system exists mainly to select and prepare young people for their future work roles. The education system is the social institution in which children are taught formal knowledge, which includes reading, writing and arithmetic, and also they are taught the norms, values and morals of society. The education system plays a vital role in wider society as it prepares young people and equips them with everything they need to become fully functioning members of wider society. One way to select and prepare pupils for their future work roles is by selecting and allocating pupils of education a role in society, as mention in item A: “it also selects and allocates them to their future work roles” this means that social inequality is justified because of the Hierarchal system in society – someone is on top as the head and someone has to be at the bottom as taking orders and obeying to the head. This ideology is said to be derived from having a society based on meritocratic principles where everyone has an equal opportunity that is provided to them in education and then in the workplace.
Geddes’ essay was effective overall and managed to get the point across. There is a transition throughout the essay, from the start of her childhood to growing up into adulthood. The reader is able to understand the respect that she has for her family and community in the beginning and then the harsh reality of the intolerance for diversity as she goes to school. In the end she does realize that she is good enough to go to post secondary despite what people may have said earlier. Believing in yourself and remembering where you come from builds character and you should not let anyone tell you otherwise.
Cognition encompasses perception, imagination, judgment, memory, and language - the processes people use to think, decide, and learn. Education - not only the formal curriculum in schools but also informal learning - is part of this domain as well." (Berger, pg.12) Piaget considers adaptation the "essence of intelligence". (Berger, pg. 165) Learning is an active process which leads to the creation of schemas.
This paper will illustrate the following (1) how I view the course of child development as continuous (2) how my own personal child development theory would be a blend between Piaget’s Cognitive-Developmental theory and Vygotsky’s Sociocultural Theory (3) how I feel environmental and cultural influences play a large role in a child’s development and (4) how I would incorporate my theories into the classroom. There have been many theories that have played a part in early childhood development research. It has been these theories that have changed the way teachers educate their students. Creating an environment that contributes to learning is key to the student’s success. I believe that children develop smoothly and continuously, gradually adding on more of the same types of skills that were there in the beginning.
Explain ways in which theories and principles of learning and communication can be applied to promote inclusive practice. It is important to understand that learning takes place all the time and people can learn new things everyday regardless of age, culture or background. “Learning is the lifelong process of transforming information and experience into knowledge, skills, behaviours, and attitudes.” (Jeff Cobb www.missiontolearn.com 2013) “Educational theory has, at its base, psychology, sociology, and the study of behaviour. As teachers, it is argued, we need to know how people behave under certain circumstances so that we can optimise their learning through the provision of conditions that make it as easy a process as possible. For instance, how do we help our students to memorise the material in our subject, how do we make them understand the concepts and principles, does their attitude to both learning and the subject have a bearing on how they learn, and so on?” (Reece I & Walker S, 2007, p53).
It is from this that one will find him or herself forming an identity, knowing who they are, or being stuck in role confusion and not being able to establish solidity in their lives. For me, I was fortunate enough to establish an identity in Erikson’s identity versus role confusion stage and it affected how I grew to learn throughout secondary education and how it is affecting how I live my life in the present. I remember my first day of middle
