The Cheetah Faster than a speeding car, cheetahs are the fastest land mammals in the world. They can reach running speeds of up to 70 mph, and they can go from 0 to 60 mph in three seconds. Cheetahs are members of the large cat family mainly found on the grassy plains of eastern and southern Africa. The cheetah is endangered due to habitat loss, hunting by humans for their beautiful, spotted coats, and for being livestock killers.
