The biggest Leap in your life The leap from high school to University is a very large one indeed. Many students enter post-secondary education expecting the experience to be the same as the one they had while attending high school. These students are wrong to make this assumption and they very quickly realize just how different University actually is. The first year of University can be very overwhelming for recent high school graduates. To make the transition smoother is helpful to know the key differences between high school and University. University costs more, presents more academic challenges, and offers a more socialized environment compared to high school. When you think about it more university is like Neil Armstrong's words “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” When he first set foot on the moon the step down onto the surface and the first step for man onto the moon’s surface is like a university student’s leap from high school to university. These words really make you think of high school or university because you are not simply just speaking to one person but everyone as a whole which is what he meant when he said “one giant leap for mankind.” It is one huge leap for a high school student whom is starting at university. Attending University your freshman year can be as nerve-racking as ever. Stress and anxiety are at an ultimate high as you wonder what this new journey will bring to your life. How will you fit in? What if you find it to academically challenging? These are only some of the questions that new students may be asking themselves. It is important that students prepare as best as they can for this new chapter in their lives. First of all in terms of cost University is more expensive than high school because of tuition, living expenses, and books. Anyone who wishes to attend University must pay fees whereas it is free
