I will get to know each child, establish relationships with parents, and support their strengths as well as their needs. I will express my own emotions and respond to the children’s emotions, valuing their feelings and helping them express what they are feeling. But above all, I will make sure that every child feels secure in my room and are comfortable coming to me as their teacher. I provide a positive relationship with the child through daily routines and interactions. I feel this gives the children and parents a sense of trust.
Explain why positive relationships with children and young people are important and how these are built and maintained. Children and young people become confident, independent and most resilient where they are secure in the relationships around them. Relationships take time to become established, because they are based on a growing understanding of one another. Effective communication helps children and young people develop confidence, feelings of self-worth and positive relationships with others. It also helps them grow into adults who have positive feelings about themselves and others.
Young children watch their parents and typically “try on” their parents’ values as a framework for right and wrong. Many of life’s lessons are taught early and often through dinner table discussions, holiday gatherings, and family events. Teenagers increasingly turn to peers, teachers, and others to help sharpen their identity and define their values. They compare their observations and experience in the world against what they have learned at home. Family philanthropy can help children learn the skills and competencies necessary to lead fulfilling lives.
OBSERVATION REPORT: In my recent observations I have made at “Small World” I have found a new love for administration, children, and childcare in general. Small World offers a variety of services with an exceptional staff! There were many occasions where I observed multiple teachers using a various range of teaching ethics- all of course were handled in the appropriate manner. My observations of the following will be discussed through the caregivers, health & safety, environment/activities, and guidance/discipline along with the facility operations of Small World Pre School here at 809 Gentry Drive Hot Springs, Arkansas. First I would like to say how accessible and convenient Small World makes to its parents and students.
Standard 1:Understand the principles and values essential for fostering children and young people 1.Principles and Values 1a) What principles and values do you think are important in caring for children? Principles • The welfare of the child is paramount. • Foster carers contribute to children’s care, learning, development and safeguarding. This is reflected in every aspect of practice and service provision. • Foster carers support parents and families who are partners in the care, learning, development and safeguarding of their children, recognising they are the child or young person’s first, and in most situations, their most enduring carers and educators.
Children depend on adults (who also are as healthy as possible) to make healthy choices for them and to teach them to make healthy choices for themselves. Teaching: Children benefit most when their teachers have high levels of formal education and specialized early childhood professional preparation. Families: Young children’s learning and development are integrally connected to their families. Consequently, to support and promote children’s optimal learning and development, programs need to recognize the primacy of children’s families, establish relationships with families based on mutual trust and respect, support and involve families in their children’s educational growth, and invite families to fully participate in the program. Community: As part of the fabric of children’s communities, an effective program establishes and maintains reciprocal relationships with agencies and institutions that can support it in achieving its goals for the curriculum, health promotion, children’s transitions, inclusion, and diversity.
“They always played a big role in my life, and encouraged me to be a more open person… a more outspoken person.” Nai believes that this encouragement made her stronger in comparison to her initially shy and soft spoken personality. Now, Nai stands up for what she believes in and speaks out. At the age of 23 and out of foster care for five years, today Nai is studying to become a pharmacist at Stanislaus State University. When asked if she still has a relationship with her former foster family, Nai responds, “I’m definitely still really close to them. I visit them on holidays… I still call them mom and dad.
I believe family is in both the times as couple and parental years of family development. The mother and step dad are learning to think and act as a team, learning to rely on each other and make decisions together. Such as combining their money, this week the mother and father opened a joint checking account together. This was a big step for the mom, mom
.CU1549.1 - Understand the importance of positive relationships for the development and wellbeing of children and young people. Identify the different relationships children and young people may have. Children and young people come into contact with many people in their day to day life so would have a range of different relationships. Their relationships start from birth and the first ever relationship a child would have would be their parents, mother & father would be their primary carers and also others that the child would get to know first. This would then be followed by siblings, grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins.
1. As a teacher, I can promote resilience in my classroom by creating positive and caring relationships with my parents and children. Promoting caring relationships with my families would be top priority in my classroom. Parents have to trust that their children are safe and welled cared for when they leave their children in my care. For example, I would host a family day where the students can bring their parent s to school for the day.
