Introduction Some SMEs (small and medium size enterprises) need to find ways of financing themselves, in order to develop production and increase profits. However, different methods of financing a company have advantages and disadvantages. This project will analyze the benefits and drawbacks of these different financial strategies for small and medium size companies and I will also focus on the implications of various financial methods for these companies. Firstly, the reasons why SMEs need financial support will be investigated, and then some methods which are available for financing SMEs will be provided. After that, the benefits and drawbacks of those methods will be explored. Finally, the best financing method will be discussed. 805452 P.P.S 2. Main body 2.1 Overview SMEs(small and medium size enterprises) play important roles in society, because Thurik (1996) cited in Vasilescu (2010) has argued SMEs can increase employment opportunities for people. In other words, unemployment and poverty problems should be reduced by SMEs. Furthermore,” SMEs are considered main actors for industrial growth”. (Thurik,1996 cited in Vasilescu,2010). However, the problem of funding constraints has prevented small and medium size companies to develop production and to increase benefits. So, it is necessary that SMEs should use different methods of fundraising, such as private financing, bank financing and government financing. Therefore, it is important to analyze the merits and demerits of different financial methods for SMEs. 2.2
