The 19th century, Japan expanded to the Pacific area, so that Buddhism spread with Japanese immigrants into the Hawaiian Islands. And later go into San Francisco and other place.
I suppose they blend this idea into daily practice. Like Chinese medicine, the Chinese usually used herbal medicine because they trusted there is harmony on earth. And also for cuisine, the way of Chinese cooking are according to the five tastes which suited our bodies. Moreover, the religion and art marked the civilization of China. And different religions (Buddhism, Taoism) can co-existed together to civilize the people.
In the Vietnamese chronicle, “Tam and Cam”, the aspect of spirituality can be visualized overall the incidents in the story. The continuous appearance of “Buddha” shows a clear view of religious influence. In the story, Buddha appears in every grieving moment that Tam comes to experience. Buddhism is a belief that’s been disciplined since the 12th century in Vietnam. Hence, the word “Buddha” is common to the Vietnamese because it represents the beliefs of the society.

Buddhism originated in India, but after the fall of the Han Dynasty in 220 C.E., it gained many converts in China. The people responded rather positively to the spread of Buddhism in China, because after their kingdom fell into turmoil, it was also torn apart by power hungry warlords. They responded this way, because not only did China have to deal with nomadic invaders from the north, but they also had feudal warlords fighting over the land. Because of this, people needed something to have faith in, so they turned and found it in Buddhism. People also tried to turn away from all the sorrow, so they accepted this new foreign religion coming in, regardless of the political situation in China at the time.
