Chicago is an American rock band formed in 1967 in Chicago, Illinois. This “rock and roll band with horns” (Wikipedia) began as a strong emotional, sometimes experimental, rock band and later moved to a softer sound, making several popular ballads. They had a steady making of hits throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s. Second only to The Beach Boys in Billboard singles and album chart success among American bands, Chicago is considered to be one of the longest-running and most successful rock groups in history. (LyricsFreak) According to Billboard, Chicago was the leading US singles charting group during the 1970’s. Over the course of their career they have had five number one albums and twenty-one top-ten singles. The original band membership consisted of saxophonist Walter Parazaider, guitarist Terry Kath, drummer Danny Seraphine, trombonist James Pankow, trumpet player Lee Loughnane, and keyboardist Robert Lamm. They later added bassist Peter Cetera. (Wikipedia) “25 or 6 to 4” was a song that was supposed to be about a songwriter trying to write at twenty-five or twenty-six minutes to four in the morning. It was Chicago’s first top five hit. Some people had the impression that this song was made directing towards illegal drugs, but the writer made sure to clarify that it was not. Their first record was released in 1969, “The Chicago Transit Authority,” which was a double album that sold over one million copies and was awarded a platinum disc. The album included a number of pop-rock songs such as; “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Really Is?” “Beginnings,” and “Questions 67 and 68,” that were later released as singles.
