They might instead skip around, scanning for pertinent information of interest… I can’t get my students to read whole books anymore…” (318). Students are not focusing on reading a book from beginning to end. Instead, students tend to skim through and miss the important information which is a negative impact on them. Carr agrees that using the Web so often is having a negative effect on him because he is having a harder time focusing and reading articles which are more than a few sentences. He points out, “When I mentions my troubles with reading to friends, many say they’re suffering from similar afflictions.
However, the low cost of implementing the technology is offset by the high cost of managing the network. Additionally, since only one cable is utilized, it can be the single point of failure. If the network cable is terminated on both ends and when without termination data transfer stop and when cable breaks, the entire network will be down. Ring: A network
As the technology era advances, people are gravitating closer to a television where as reading a newspaper is considered an interest from the past. The television audience is failing to realize the main point of T.V., including news programs, is to keep people watching so that sponsors and others can make more money through ratings and increased interest in products. In “How to Watch T.V. News”, Neil Postman and Steve Powers state “Anyone who relies exclusively on television for his or her knowledge of the world is making a serious mistake” (x), This statement is true, for television news is not solely reporting what actually occurs. Rather it is reporting what T.V.
Consider this common situation; if a person is watching the television, surfing the internet, listening to music, and texting, their focus is being pulled in many directions at the same time. The images on the television will catch their attention, so they stop what they are doing on the computer. They can’t hear clearly what is being played on the television, because the radio is on simultaneously. This individual then gets up to turn down the radio, and while they are up, they receive a text message. They aren’t aware of this because there were too many things going on at once, so the conversation is unknowingly ended.
Monitor distractions, interruptions, or anything that stops the flow of the process. Record that information somewhere and share your thoughts here. This is a little easier for me to answer, since I am naturally distractible to begin with (ADD). Currently, I am typing this while listening to a radio station that plays celtic music, which is there as a predictable distraction to prevent the unpredictable distractions of the television noise from the room next door to mine from snatching my attention away from what I am doing here. In the attempt to read the two chapters assigned, I initially tried to read without listening to music of any kind, but nurses coming in to take vitals, combined with beeping machines, carts rumbling by in the hallway, housekeeping coming in to change the sheets, and then the noises from the room next door when my neighbor woke up were enough to drive me to complete distraction.
CULTIVATION: A person’s life can be within a parallel world such as reality. This life impacts a person’s overall understanding of anything external of their own agenda. Cultivation proposes over time, television viewers develop views of the world around them mirrored to what they watch on television. Television produces design programs to be relatable to everyday life, so that real world events can become in resonance with the distorted image of reality depicted on television. Recurring themes of isolation, depression cycle through our television channels, with more and more people feeling these emotions craving stability and a sense of relating to a fictional character her conveniently shows us for theory sessions whenever you sit on the couch.
2.2) I would consider the factors when I am communicating, I would make sure the environment is appropriate for communication this could be the television in the residents room is far to loud for them to hear me, so I would use body language or a signal for them to acknowledge that I am wanting to talk, so they can turn it down so they can hear me hen turn it back up after I have communicated with them. I would have to know if my resident has the ability to understand me, will I have to adapt my communication by speaking louder or use gestures. How will my resident respond to me, is it going to be formal or non formal. 2.3) We all use two types of language systems these are verbal or spoken language and non-verbal communication or body language. The Eyes- often called “the windows of the soul”.
time anymore Some kids find comfort in TV of talking to there parents and think that’s what to do to solve my problem Yes, but The biggest problem is not the fact that kids watch more TV now; the fact that parents do not regulate what there kids watch. Also it should be up to the kids to realize that that’s not real and that’s not what I need to do to solve my problem. Violence on TV will always be there, we will never get rid of it or ban it that’s our right to watch it. On the other hand the family should spend more time together verses watching television all the time. If the parents cannot control what there kids watch then don’t let them watch television when they are not there.
She believed “a pattern of repeated actions. Clusters of schemas developed into later concepts” Media reports have an influence on the way children play because news reports that are on the television and in newspapers will make parents not want to let their children leave the house because of what may be happening in surrounding areas. Technology will also restrict children from playing, this could be because of game consoles or television programmes. This is because children are more interested in playing on the latest games and watching their favourite television programmes this will cause obesity in children because they will not be getting the required amount of exercise
Imagine a kid solving a puzzle -which will help to develop his brain- instead of watching TV; also this kind of activities will keep him safe from violence. Ratings: I have seen a TV channel specifying violence ratings, I cannot recall the channel but every time I see it has violence on it I change the channel. We shouldn’t have to watch a program to see if it is violent. Sometime we start watching a program just to see if it appropriate or not to watch and then we realized that even it has violence we watched the entire TV show I think ratings will work just
