Of these approximately 248,00 victims, about 87,000 were victims of complete rape, and 70,000 were victims of sexual assault. Up to 4,315 pregnancies may have resulted from there attacks. Calculations based on the National Crime Victimization Survey, rape is often misunderstood. For one reason or another, rapist are usually portrayed as a stranger, his motivation is entirely sexual, and the victim is always a young and sexy female. The truth is not all rapes are the same. The victim doesn't have to be a young beautiful female, older woman, men, and kids also get raped. The victims, rapists, and motivation can be very different depending on the one who is committing the crime. Date rape is a notorious and uncertain crime. Sexual assault includes any sexual activity carried out against the will of the victim through the use of violence, cruelty, threats even if it did not end in penetration.( National Crime Victimization Survey 2012) There are many different types of rape. But the kind that is most common among teens is Date Rape. There are many situations and causes that lead to date rape. Parties that include alcohol or drugs or being alone and unsupervised on a date with a person someone just met. There might not even be a cause just that the person was a dangerous person. Most victims of rape are women. The men that rape women do it to feel powerful and in control. Those men see women as a way to get that power and control. Bad influences and atmospheres lead to those kind of men and they lead to the rapes of women.( About Date Rape 2002) When a sixteen year old girl, Lani, had finally got a date with her crush , she was ecstatic.
