“The institutions traditionally procure, provide and control the technology for learning but now students are acquiring their own personal technologies for learning and institutions are challenged to keep pace” (Research in Technology Learning, 2010). Computers and other technical devices that are being used to enhance student learning helps to make teaching more creative and effective; however, it has also caused a lot of confusion and chaos in regards to ethics. Once teachers only had to be concerned about the basic rules of classroom etiquette and they could govern their classroom visually. Now teachers have to implement rules and guidelines to ensure that technology in the classroom is being used for its intended purpose to protect students from lurking dangers that might not always be detected by human
Competency Statement III To support social and emotional development and to provide positive guidance, I will supply children with an emotionally and physically safe and secure environment in which they will thrive, being able to develop their own sense of self. I will do this by smiling and greeting all children and their parents each and every morning. I will always address each child by their name. I will make sure every child gets some one on one attention when I can express appropriate physical touch and enjoyment in them being in my classroom. I will get to know each child, establish relationships with parents, and support their strengths as well as their needs.
Encourage children to value and be proud of their work and their achievement. Acknowledge effort celebrate achievements and value the work of all children. Each class must have a board that they are to mount a display in the school entrance and on corridors. Children usually do displays of Maths work in the corridors or inside the classrooms. Also all Art work should be double mounted to make the presentation of the work exciting.
And the students who are very talented and are very motivated to learn and be driven in a non-academic subject seem to have a more negative image than the people who are driven by academics. Overall we have a problem in our society’s image of academics that will be very difficult to reverse. You could memorize lists of vocabulary words, different equations, and maybe even the periodic table of elements. Is
Clashes in Higher Education Some students that are beginning their higher education such as university or college will have what Patricia Bizzell calls clashes. Some being clashes among dialect, some will be clashes among discourse and others in ways of thinking. It’s a difficult topic as there are academics that don’t trust the discussion at all and then there are others that believe and agree wholeheartedly. Inclusion and the Common Core Introduction to Inclusion To fully participate in an inclusive education program in your school means to allow all students to attend general education classes that are accepting and supportive learning environments for all students regardless of any disabilities or exceptionalities. As educators all over the country we are faced with having to embrace and implement technology into our schools and for teachers their lessons. We have students who are very skilled with technology and in order to keep they engage and involved in the lessons we have to incorporate technology into our lessons and move away from the lecture style of teaching and create more interactive lessons that will keep students motivated in the classrooms. Special needs students require more funding and services to provide them with the tools and materials that they need to be successful in school. The special education has really changed over the years because we now have districts moving from the out of district placements and now have more of the special education students in inclusion classrooms and of course we still have the resource rooms and the self contained classrooms. Many districts because of costs are not seeking out of district placements but instead are creating programs within the various school districts that mirror the out of district programs.
More and more computer based lessons have been given to high school students. Is modern technology culture changing so fast that teachers have to put traditional way of learning on the side to keep up with?
