Teams are usually found in sports, school or work environments. Teams are made up of individuals from different backgrounds. Teamwork can offer the benefits of early collaboration in project development where different disciplines share expertise and concerns in order to make the best decisions for and throughout the life cycle of the project (Utley, Brown, & Benfield, 2009). Unlike teams, groups are usually individuals that look for one another based on interests.
Leaders have to set the standard by being empathic, supportive and use a range of different leadership styles to develop and maintain the team, they also have be fair and consistent, as workers that feel they are unfairly treated by a manager will not show loyalty and will do the minimum. The leader also has to demonstrate capability and experience, as having workers that are more highly achieving than the leader breeds resentment. Tuckman (1965) described the stages of team development as ‘Forming, Storming, Norming and Performing. As teams travel through these stages trust, respect and understanding of individual’s strengths and tolerance of their weaknesses is established. This process allows individuals to learn about each other personalities, coping strategies and response to pressure, allowing for bonds between members to be formed.
A working relationship in health and social care is based upon professional settings followed by rules regulations and procedures. It’s based upon an employer to employee basis… when professional friend-ships can form but under rules and regulations only permitting things personal relationships would allow whereas work relationship would not allow. 2.1 Describe why it is important to adhere to the agreed scope of the job role? These resources could be skills within the team, they could be experience or an experienced member of the team, and potentially they could even be financial resources that will help the team achieve what it needs to within the business. Co-ordination of team resources may involve deciding which members of the team would best utilize the training resources to improve the performance of the team on a whole and how the training could be shared; but as long as the team is working together in a co-ordinated way it should meet targets. Monitoring of team performance: The monitoring of team performance allows the team leader or manager to evaluate how well their subordinates are working, to assist their subordinates the team leader would have to effectively utilize resources. If resources are used ineffectively then it can be detrimental to the team’s performance e.g. a call operator may spend too long on each call, this would tire them out and drag the rest of the team’s performance down with them.

Teamwork is extremely important in the workplace” (para. 1). The definition of the word team is an assembly of people who are united to accomplish a common goal. A great team builds rapport, improves motivation, increases problem-solving skills, and improves coordination efficiency amongst the members.
Employee Motivation Theory Often times companies that struggle with the relationship between the employees and the goals of the organization; sometimes the moral of its employee is thread that sets the relationship apart. Managers have made several failed attempts to establish that relationship with the employee to knit them together with the goals of the organization. Therefore, the company level of accomplishments is diminished. A good manager has learned good people skills, and often times he/she is able to motivate their employees to increase their output.
