Teacher’s role and responsibility in education and training The teacher’s roles and responsibilities, can be shown as a cycle called the teaching cycle (fig. 1). All the roles and responsibilities are summarised in this cycle. Each part of this cycle will be discussed below. Fig.1: teaching cycle Identification of need The first step in teaching and the first responsibility of the teacher is to identify the learners and organisation needs. Organization need could be the policy with regards to the learners for example student first and also high standard teaching. On the other hand student’s need is very important to be identified before start teaching. This could be done during the interviews or by study advice center of the college. Also teachers are responsible to make a group profile for the learners. Preferred method of learning for each student must be specified in the group profile also any special need and educational experience and background of the learners have to be mentioned in the group profile. So when teacher is aware of the needs for individual students, she/he can provide better plan for the learners. Planning and designing Teachers are responsible to prepare a complete scheme of work (SOW) for their units. SOW includes all the plans and designs to cover all the learning outcomes in a specific time. To prepare a SOW, group profile and the learners needs have to be considered. Therefore, according to the learners need each lesson has to be designed. A lesson should have different activities to cover all the students’ needs. Based on the student’s ages, the length of the lesson could be determined. Various resources need to be taken account so students can access information.
