Also, the music included in the film. As far as I know the film is historically accurate. According to history this kids wore their hair long to identify themselves, listening to swing music, playing it and dancing it. In addition, most of the German parents wanted their kids to be part of the Nazi Youth Organization, but their kids being part of the "Swing Kids" it was impossible, most of them would break the country rules and steal, until they got catch by the police which would give them two options, send them to work camps or join to the Nazi Youth Organization. This project would be based on the point of view of the film and the research of history in order to find out if this film is completely accurate and find out if the directors left something behind.
From the very beginning, Napoleon never fit in, he was always alone. As the story progressed, he grew by starting to make friends and deciding to start doing things for those friends. After this point, he begins to fit in more and is never alone. Someone could say that at the beginning, he was somewhat selfish and did not care much about others, but towards the end, he became self less and was doing things for others, which led him to have good friends. In any story there is foreshadowing, which keeps the reader engaged in the story.
Due to his sleepless nights, he seeks employment as a Taxi Driver. Martin was a man who enjoyed moving around and not staying in one place, he did not believe in the traditional beliefs of patriarchy and hierocracy, he enjoyed activities such as sword fighting, acrobatics, he was also said to have a spell cast on him that he that made him impotent. After many years of cruel torture from the other children making fun of him, Martin finally gave up and left. If Martin Guerre fell into a well after his return and magically came out in the American colonies in the 1740s as Gordon Wood described in his book, he would not have fit in. The 1740s was the start of a monarchal society, which was the complete opposite of what Guerre believed. Martin would have sided with the democratic group because he believed
This book relates to the quote because Holden tried going out and living on his own after getting kick out of school and with all the stuff that happened to him like getting robbed and beaten up by a strippers body guard, and getting drunk Holden has had enough and wanted to go home and tell his parents. So although Holden went home after trying to live in the city on his own he is now home which is better for him. This relates to the quote because Holden’s goal was to live on his own in the city and although he did not succeed at doing it is unimportant because now he is living at home with people that care for him and know what is best for
Hitchhiking, he meets Jan and Rainey, who are like the parents he always needed. They talk about their son. They take him to a hippie spot, where he meets Tracy T., who falls in love with him. At one point, she offers him to sleep with her, but he refuses, as she is too young. This story is the opposite of American stereotype, because they mostly try to dominate nature for their own good.
Victor stated that “Somehow my father’s memories of my mother grew more beautiful as their relationship became hostile” (pg.27) nothing was censored at home, victor was aware of everything that was going on, he saw his parents fight and he also heard them making love on many occasion. Victors parents relationship was really tested by all the stroms that touch down on the reservation, alcohol and jimmy Hendrix music was not enough to suppress the pain of poverty for victors father, he went out and bought a motorcycle and took on a new journey. His decision to leave home had a huge effect on the home that he previously created for victor and his mother, it had more of an impact on victor, because he use to stay up and set the scene so he could bond with his father listening to jimmy Hendrix. Victor had hopes that his father would come back home, some nights he would stay up listening for his pickup, but was all in victors
“The whole disaster with Dorothy Giddens made me realize that I wasn’t anywhere close to being smooth with girls, not so much because I was ugly but because I was to chicken to ever say anything to a girl.” he said. Manny talked about this situation with his friend Frankie, who decided that joining a gang would be the best solution to the issue. The next day, Frankie introduced Manuel to the gang. “I felt really uncomfortable with the group, they were the complete opposites of me, I didn’t think I would get to do what I really joined a gang for, make out with girls," Manny said. Manuel had to take an initiation to test his courage; he could either sissy out or have Mondo think he was brave enough to stand the punishment.
He states, “Parents moved their kids out of the cities to these horrible suburbs to save them from the ‘reality’ of the cities and what they ended up with was this new breed of monster” (39). He later argues that these genres do just the opposite by promoting love and chastity by stating, “These songs aren’t about sex, they’re about two people who are very much in love… It ends badly for the lovers but it ends well for love” (34). He refers to the music simply as teen melodramas, and not promoters of suicide, sex, or rebellion. The reason he refers to them as teen melodramas is because most of the songs, if not all, merely tell a story that teens can relate to. Thomson ends the chapter stating, “Lest we forget, and we often do, teenagers tend not to be anywhere near as stupid as we think they might look”
We tell them to not get mad and that it will be okay when we know we have been through that situation before and it was not okay, where on the other hand you have a rapper singing about not letting anyone hurt him because he has a gun. We expect our children to come out of the womb knowing the difference between right and wrong but contradict ourselves right in front of them. We tell them not to smoke and drink while we are sitting on the patio smoking whereas the celebrity is saying how he got drunk and high and it was fun. Children are going to follow what they know and once they get used to doing things a certain way, it is hard for them to change that. I cannot tell my son that he is not to drink and drive and he just saw mommy drink a glass of wine.
