Describe how you might contribute to a lesson given to a group of seven year old children learning to play percussion instruments. When contributing to a music lesson I would help to set up the classroom and help with organising the equipment needed to use for the lesson. I would possibly help the class teacher to plan the lesson, volunteering ideas on what equipment we would use, music to play to and how to organise the classroom. I would also think of how I could support the children through the lesson, and which of those children may need extra support. 2. What might be your roll in organising, using and maintaining the learning resources, materials and equipment? When organising equipment for the lesson, I would prepare resources/materials ahead of the lesson. Ensuring that I know where resources/equipment is stored. Perhaps to make resources should I need to differentiate for children that needed extra support? I would need to check that the equipment is age appropriate and that there is enough for the class. I would consider it important to familiarise myself with the equipment so that I am able to help demonstrate the use of resources to the children. 3. What aspects of safety would you consider? When organising resources or equipment I would need to check regularly for damage, missing parts, are the clean and age appropriate. I would also consider it important to notify the teacher of any damage, of equipment that needed attention. I would also to make sure that I used all equipment in line with safety regulations. 4. Describe how you act in class in order to be an effective role model for the standards of behaviour expected in pupils. It is important to show children respect, praise and consistency.
