1.2- Explain how effective communication affects all aspects of working in an adult social care setting: Effective communication can affect many aspects of work,effectively communicating can help build levels of trust,help recording and reporting incidents, aid participation and help with service provisions. 1.3-Explain why it is important to observe individuals reactions while communicating with them: When communicating with an individual it is key to pay attention to reactions that the person gives off. This is because it allows one to understand what that the individual is expressing and to help meet the individuals needs.It helps to also notice any changes in an individuals needs and to enable effective communication. Outcome 2- Understand how to meet the communication and language needs,wishes and preferences of an individual. 2.1- Explain why it is important to find out an individual's communication, language needs ,wishes and preferences: It is important to find out an individual’s needs,wishes,and preferences because it allows the person to enable effective communication while trying to understand what an individual is trying to express.

Understand specific communication needs and factors affecting them. 1.1 It is important to meet the individual’s communication needs so; • they can be informed and therefore make informed choices • express their feelings and views • be alerted to danger • interact socially • be involved with everyday activities • understand what is going on around them • learn 1.2 My role and practice can impact on communication with an individual with specific communication needs by giving them the opportunities for all of the above. If I fail to communicate according to their need, they may become more isolated and withdrawn. I endeavour to find ways to support communication using variety of methods.
I use different techniques when communicating to individuals and use their preferences such as Makaton or pictorial if required. I complete records and reports to the best of my ability and make sure that they are accurate. With no bias or judgemental opinions and that they are fair and equal to all. 2. I provide active support to individuals to enable them to express their communication needs, views and preferences by making available any equipment that is required e.g.

Explain the importance of meeting an individual’s communication needs Some service users may have communication problems and may need to express how they are feeling or what they would like to do .It is important that we find the best way we can help them to do this. This can be done by writing in down on a piece of paper, sign language, TECCH cards. They can then choose which way they would like to commutate to you in their own way and you must respect what chose they have chosen. We all have the right to communicate to each other and to express our needs, if we don’t do this then we are stopping them to express their options, rights and needs.
SUPPORTING INDIVIDUALS WITH SPECIFIC COMMUNICATION NEEDS TASK C It is crucial for a support worker to be aware and take the matter carefully, because the capability to make decisions among individuals is different. it may looks quite simple to think that people with mental impairment, physical illness or people how have got language barriers, may have affect their capabilities to express agreement. A professional carer will understand how to work sensitively with service user individually and design goals to achieve successful outcomes. The mental capacity act clearly defines that every adult has the right to make their own decisions. It must be assumed that they have the capacity to do so, unless it has been proven otherwise.
Also their reactions can show their emotional responses to certain information, if it has been understood and also if there needs to be any adaptations to the way in which they communicate with others. 2. Describe the factors to consider when promoting effective communication To be able to communicate effectively you must consider the ‘audience’ whether it be clients, their families, other professionals or colleagues. The type of communication to be used will depend on the situation and context such as formal or non-formal, sensitive or complex, and the purpose of the message. There may be
The support worker's role is to enable the individuals to communicate in their preferred way and support them in using it. My role as a support worker is to make sure the individual's communication needs are met in the way they prefer. Also to encourage communication and try different methods of communication to work out the best one for the individual and to enable them to communicate not only in the care/home environment, but also in the outside world, e.g. with members of the public. The environment may affect communication - noise, traffic, crowds, light - too bright or too dark, size of the room, distance from the person you trying to communicate with, eye contact, body language, posture/size of the person, gender.
It gives service users the tools to be empowered to voice their opinions on the type of care they would like. It in the care setting an environment that encourages the practice of the care values with all the service users as individuals. Active participation is an approach that respects and values the individuality of the service user. It seeks to maintain the service users individuality. It ensures that the care provider promotes in a care setting an environment that encourages the practice of the care values with all of the service users as individuals.
If this is not possible in some cases then there are lots of other ways to find out information such as looking through care plan, speaking to a member of family or close friend, asking someone from the same culture, either a collage or cultural representative. Do not assume that you approach everyone in the same way. It is my job to find out the best way to approach someone. People have many communication needs such as, cultural backgrounds, language, self-confidence, level of learning ability, physical ability and sensory ability. It is my responsibility to make sure that my communication skills meet the needs of the service
