For those of us that seek adventure, TV shows offer programs that vary from actors to themes to genres and have one of two purposes: to entertain or to inform. While informative shows are regularly watched, most of television viewers prefer entertaining shows. Comedies are the most familiar TV shows watched and
In order for a sitcom to be great, it should be re-watchable. Seinfeld has a number of inside jokes including catch phrases and character flaws which are repeated throughout the episodes. The inside jokes are generally only picked up by dedicated viewers who realise that they’re funny, hence they are necessary in re-watchability. Another factor in a great sitcom is chemistry among the characters. The characters of Seinfeld have such great chemistry that we love to watch them, and feel like a part of it.
Samantha Sonali English 100 July 3rd, 2012 The Vow Movie Review The Vow is a romantic drama presented to an audience which consists mostly of young women and romantic men. It draws the audience as that for a Twilight movie. It is a movie with attractive lead actors; Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams. They create the image of an ideal couple and attract people like me who are reeled into the theatre at the sound of “chick flicks” or “romantic dramas.” The movie is very soft and doesn’t have much excitement or any type of special effects in it. However, I believe it is an excellent movie because it captures a true life story and makes the audience feel a part of it.
Smoke Signal. All of us has some favorite movies. Movies that we like to watch over and over. Some of the movies we remember, some do not. Some people like comedies others romantic or dramas.
In his essay, “Why We Crave Horror Movies,” Stephen King tells us that some reasons we like a good horror flick are: to prove that we aren’t afraid of things that go bump in the night, to make us feel “normal,” and to have some good old-fashioned fun. Upon reading these assertions, I began to reflect on my own attitudes about the horror film genre. I have never considered myself to be a horror film fan. I tend to shy away from movies with extreme gore, violence, and gratuitous blood shed. They aren’t fun.
To me a very good book is exciting, suspenseful, and funny the whole way through. Some people would say that this book is sexist because of how Miles and Phelps talk to and about girls. But really that’s the way guys are, and when Miles is with Angie he is nothing but nice to her. Miles’s idol is also a girl so that would make no since if he was sexist against girls. I like the friendship between Miles and Phelps because they get closer as the book goes on.
Rom-coms The genre I have chosen for my film studies documentary is rom coms. I have chosen this genre because I enjoy watching them and it’s a type of film that interests me. Rom coms are usually light hearted and generally focus on romantic ideals. An example of this romantic ideal is true love overcoming all obstacles. The main feature is a love plot in which two sympathetic and well-matched lovers are united or reconciled.
Explain why or why not. I think there are many reasons a person will laugh at a joke that will put down other people. One such reason is immaturity. Having worked with teenagers I think that this is their favorite way to joke around. I think it makes them feel better about themselves.
These shows and movies help the acceptance into society. For example, when people watch these shows and movies, they understand the differences of society. Some people may not understand the differences and may be scared of someone different from them, so with these shows they provide character and may even change people’s minds about cultures and diversity that did not know about. One good television show is Glee. This show is a multi-culture show and has all races, sexual orientation, religion, and cultures, which all people come together as a team to provide the ultimate performance with amazing
I’ve heard people refer to “The Notebook” as cheesy, as a ‘chick flick’ (a label very few of my colleagues can stand because of its negative connotation), as predictable and sappy. So “The Notebook” doesn’t exactly take a brain surgeon to guess how the story is going to play out. And it does unapologetically play on your emotions, practically begging you to squeeze out a few tears. But here’s why I enjoyed “The Notebook”: it’s a movie you can relax and let flow over you. It’s also one of the few films out there that tells a complete story.
