The first reason is because a lot of people want a job that will pay very good money. By going to college, you will have the hands-on learning education you need to start your chosen career. This is a huge reason why a lot of careers require you to have at least a two or four year degree. Another reason why college matters is because it helps students boost their confidence level out in the real world. There are countless things that people have to do every single day in life so going college will help give you a better idea of what the definition of life really is.
The importance of getting a college education makes a person strong and more confident about them selfs. In my situation it has been really difficult to be able to transition from high school to college even though i have been out of high school for awhile now, it for sure doesn't feel the same. I have been attending college for a couple of semesters now and i do have to say that it hasn't really been easy, yes some courses have been a challenge for me but some more than others. People would think that things come to them very easily but for some people it takes them awhile to get into the grove and to grasp it well. In this journey of my college life i would have to say that it has been the biggest milestone for me.
However many students want to be given the freedom to decide which classes to attend. Most colleges and universities give professors the authority to set their own attendance rules. On other hand some argue that mandatory composition should not be required, as text books are enough of knowledge and information can prepare them salves without any help from professors. Writing is not just for English major. Taking English course can prepare the students to write successful papers throughout student’s university career.
When I decided to go back to school, knew that college would help me refresh my brain in certain areas that I may need improvement on. I also returned to school because I want a job that will fit with me. Since I have been out of high school, I have had quite a few jobs. The jobs that were employed at, I knew that those jobs were what I did not want to have a career out of for the rest of my life. So, after all the different jobs I had back to back and me not being satisfied with either one.
If you are uncertain about the answers, take some time to reflect or make a couple of phone calls to an old friend. Recalling memories can also make old talents you once enjoyed resurface and can clarify where your career focus was and where it is going. An advantage that a person returning to college has is that life experience has taught us skills that although not necessarily spelled out in an academic achievement award, but will allow us to make a more conscious tailored decision when it comes to choosing a major or career path. Gather documents like old transcripts and any work that may shed light on where you were in your mind in the former years. Consider that you may have chosen a major based on factors that are no longer
Some students are successful at connecting their in-campus and off-campus activities while other are not. Light asserts that he found out that “those students who make connections between what goes on inside and outside the classroom report a more satisfying college experience” (p. 14). In order to prove this, Light interviewed a few students whose life-decisions had changed because of the meta-curricular activities that they took up during their vacations. Light concluded that this study would be helpful for admission officers who should realize that they should admit their students and then get in their way (in a constructive sense) to help them make these
In Charles Murray’s, “Too Many People Are Going to College,” he claims that students envision college as the best place to mature. Students are no longer expected to be told right from wrong and be handed everything they need. Instead, they are expected to make the right choices that would benefit them the most while reaching out for whatever help they need. Murray states, “The college curriculum demands the students’ most strenuous efforts, so that students who succeed in getting degrees must necessarily have learned how to allocate their time, set priorities, and discipline themselves” (70). According to many news articles, students who take advantage of their campus Recreation Center show better time management skills and perseverance in their
College students have short-term and long-term goals that they desire to achieve. Achieving a goal at any level would be a great accomplishment of mine. My objective is to work hard at improving my writing skills, having better study skills, and becoming an enhanced student overall. Once I graduate from GCU; I will have a higher level of communication skills, and confidence to become professional and skilled in all that I achieve. A college degree in Elementary Education is essential to me because I want to teach others the value of fun, learning, and the capability to be involved in exciting adventures throughout life.
I now realize how that has helped me not only for college but for the real world and thinking critically. Literature is something that can take you places you have never been before and make you think outside of your comfort zone.
