School uniforms are not only items that cause a lack of freedom of expression but also a largely ineffective way to help solve the problems they were meant to. Actually, look at it this way “Consider for a moment the problem of gangs. The wearing of gang colors is only a symptom of much deeper social problems, and in most of the schools where gangs are prevalent, the wearing of gang colors has already been banned. Uniforms do not address the complex social realities that lead to gang culture”. (“Point: The High Cost of School Uniforms”).
Students may even try to steal the gun for their own use. Not to mention the amount of accidents that can occur by an un-experienced shooter. We must also keep in mind that being a teacher or part of the school staff does not make it a legitimate reason for one to carry a deadly weapon in an environment full of students. Teachers are only humans and can potentially lose control of their temper or even sanity, much like the several students who previously committed gun violence in schools. How can you judge and trust a person's character just by their status?
High school dropouts have fewer opportunities in life because of their lack of education. While we are occupied on our potential threat being the gun in the class room, we miss the opportunity to learn what our teacher had planned for the day. Missing enough of the lectures leads to low test scores and the though of dropping out. Dropouts will have fewer chances at being accepted into college universities. Universities favor grade point averages, high standardized test scores, advanced placement courses, and any other reflection of above average education.
Landon Stewart Mrs. Luker Government A4 10/23/12 Cons of School Uniforms There are many schools in the U.S. that require their students to wear uniforms, and there are more that don't. I believe that school uniforms should not be required for a few reasons. Uniforms take away from a person's individual identity and freedom to express himself or herself. They can be costly to people depending on a family’s financial status. School uniforms can also be a very uncomfortable fashion that students would not take a liking to.
They will be able to understand that not everyone fits in and is ‘popular’ at school, and how some are bullied because of it. But many of the concepts in ‘Cinnamon Rain’ will be foreign to the students, as they aren’t old enough, or have never been in that
Although, many people think that it is necessary for the school teachers to carry guns on campus for the reason that they can protect children with guns. Personally, I do not think school teacher should be trained and required to carry guns on campus. Training teachers and requiring them to carry guns is a way that obey the spirit of school, it also has influence on children, teachers themselves and schools. (http://www.schoolsecurity.org/trends/arming_teachers.html) School teachers should not be trained and carry guns on campus because it is disobey the traditional spirit of school. When people think of school, a safe environment for students to learn comes to mind.
there is no solid proof that the media causes violence, and although parents do a lot to help and protect their children, there are still some steps that can be taken to protect their children against violent and sexual material. Government intervention not stands for it. Violence starts at home, not on TV or in a computer game. America needs to stand together and fight youth violence and promiscuous sex without taking away the rights of citizens. We all want to help America's youth, but Government intervention (stronger enforcement of existing laws or new legislation) into availability of popular culture media would not help to reduce violence and promiscuous sex among America's
But this injures students educationally as well. While the rest of the world references Vietnam in many of today’s situations or debates on whether Iraq is the next Vietnam and other issues, high school students are left out of the loop because their high school textbooks and teachers refuse to teach them what they should learn, what they ought to learn. High school students are hurt the most because of this. While textbook authors and editors are not likely to break away from the template soon, they should at least find a way around the system to provide pictures and information that would give students sufficient knowledge on the topic of Vietnam. That way students would be able to keep up with issues from which parallels to Vietnam are drawn or participate in such
This new policy helped reduce the amount of bullying throughout the school and also made the school look more professional. Now that the students are following the dress code properly another problem has emerged. Now there is a problem with students bringing their cellphones to school. It is a state law not to bring cell phones on school campus, but students bring them anyway. This is a problem because cell phones are a distraction to the student.
That’s all I want is just to limit the access that people have to firearms. Another argument would be to not leave people defenseless but as I stated before there are other ways to protect yourself. Right now there is a debate going on about letting people carry guns onto school campuses because of school shootings that happened in “gun-free” zones. I do not think that would be a wise idea because if any little misunderstanding, argument, or dispute went on and someone really disagreed with it, then who knows what would happen. Fights in schools happen all the time, but usually the worst of it is a couple punches thrown.
