How well a teacher presents information to the students has a lot to do with how much a student learns. In order to create a successful learning environment for students to learn, several steps must be taken by the teacher and student. The teacher student relationship is critical for students. Children spend about seven to eight hours a day with a teacher for almost 10 months (“Student-teacher Interactions”). A good relationship between the student and the teacher could be difficult to establish, but can be achieved on both sides. A teacher and student, who have good communications, respect in a classroom, and show interest in the subject being studied will establish a positive relationship in the classroom. In my recent studies, most researchers say second grade is extremely important for the student to gain a positive attitude Williams 2 for their future education. The communication between the student and the teacher can provide a better atmosphere for a classroom environment. A teacher and student can communicate in many different ways. The teacher cold have their students write in a journal every day, or do different activities like have them show-and-tell items from home. Of course a teacher will not understand every issue a child will have in his or her classroom, but will be able to recognize students who are struggling in specific areas. Research indicates that academic success and student behavior are influenced by the quality of the teacher and student relationship (Powers). The more the teacher connects with his or her students, the more likely they will be able to help students learn at a higher level and grow quicker.
