Undertaking a Structured Literature Review or Structuring a Literature Review: Tales from the Field by Andrew Armitage and Diane Keeble-Allen is an article that critically analyses the strategies used in literature review specifically, the Structured Literature Review (SLR) and Rapid Structured Literature Review (RSLR) and tries to show that the Rapid Structured Literature Review (RSLR) is a better strategy compared to the traditional and Structured Literature Review (SLR). Andrew and Diane in this article advocate for the Rapid Structured Literature Review (RSLR) for the undergraduate students and also master degree students and clearly show that the SLR method is better suited for doctoral or policy based study as it’s considered to underpin the research and it can be rigorously and systemically mapped out. Hence the RSLR is better suited for the small scale projects for example undergraduate or masters degree dissertations. Andrew and Diane use their knowledge on the subject to deliver the facts in a very systematic way as they asses each process in literature writing in reference to the Structured Literature Review (SLR) strategy and the Rapid Structured Literature Review (RSLR) strategy objectively analyzing their pros and cons. The use of the topic “Tales from the Field” suits their article as they consider views from students that have used the Structured Literature Review (SLR) approach. The author continues to emphasize that the RSLR is a clearer and more effective approach compared to the former.
