Stress Management for Adolescence and Ways to Overcome Stress In our new and advance generation today, research shows an increasing level of stress in our society especially among the teenagers. Many teenagers don’t enjoy their teenage years as they were meant to. They are caught up with peer pressures from their family, friends and education. Why is this happening to our youths? What are the factors that are involve in the increasing of stress among teenagers and a way to manage them? In this modern era, entertainment is part of the teenagers’ life. This is the age where they will experience a lot of changes in their life. Socializing is one of the factors that most of teenagers will experience during this age. Nevertheless, this can be in a positive or negative way. Therefore, social life is one of the main issues why teenagers stress out. In a survey done by Becky Beacom, health education manager for PAMF, 22 out 124 adolescents mentioned that social life is their main issue. The term “social life” is divided into many categories. First are friends, this is because the influence you can easily get from a friend. Other than that, you will also start to compete with your friends to be the best. Next is love relationship that is called as “boyfriend or girlfriends”. As mentioned by Lizette (2010), teenagers typically encounter their first romantic relationship during the adolescent years. This will affect the teenager when some conflicts happen such as break up. The most popular among teenager nowadays is tryouts. Teenagers will try to explore new things that can be in a positive or negative way. When they get caught of doing the negative things, it will lead one to stress. The last factor is sexual intercourse. Teenagers will only realize their mistakes when a girl gets pregnant and they will start to feel humiliated by the community.
