19 Apr 11 MEMORANDUM FOR 342d RECRUTING SQUADRON FROM: RS/FC SUBJECT: Stress Management and Wellness 1. In this memorandum I would like to address stress management and wellness. Stress is a part of daily life. Whenever our bodies respond to any external or internal demand, we experience stress. Stress management is the act of coping with the stressful events and situations with which our lives present us. Military members are subject to many demands in their daily lives. These potential stressors include work performance, relationships, social acceptability, and family expectations. 2. Each one of us has a unique way of dealing with stress. Being able to avoid stressful situations and cope with them is the mark of a capable stress management program. Some coping skills include: self-awareness, being able to talk out problems, and good nutrition. Also, physical fitness, learning to relax, and managing your time effectively, are great examples of stress relievers. Since we are all unique individuals, it is up to us to find the combination of techniques that work best in reducing our stressors. 3. Remember stress is a part of every day life. Practice effective stress management to help you cope when you have a stressful situation. Proper stress management and the right combination of coping skills will help you. Keep up the good work; our mission is one of the most important aspects of the Air Force. Remember our motto, “Without recruiters, it’s just another airport.” For additional questions, please contact me at (520)228-3980 or email scott.young@gf.af.mil..
