For a company to retain talent it must offer more incentives for the employees than that of its competitors. Your company encourages the decisions and ideas of the employees but more programs could be put in place to help retain employees. Implementing a program that offers rewards for time and cost savings not only benefits the employee but also the company by projecting a positive image of employee worth to the company. Keeping the companies hiring practice on the national level is required for all employees that work in the retail stores but if there is a need for technology or manufacturing of a particular product I would recommend global labor. The ability to tap into the global labor market will make the company more competitive by being able to offer competitive prices on products due to lower overhead cost associated with the offset in the labor cost.
As the ageing population continues to grow, the dependency ratio will continue to rise and there the ratio of workers to dependents in unbalanced. There are less people to support those that are dependent both financially, through taxes perhaps, and socially. To combat this, Governments could increase taxes so that there was more funding to support the elderly, as in pay for their residential and medical care, but this would cause disputes among taxpayers. An alternative to this would be to revoke pension and service rights or by introducing a cost, which would exclude elderly people that belonged to the proletariat. Marxist would suggest that introducing a higher tax or introducing costs for welfare support would be society’s way of extending the oppression of the proletariat, keeping them poor and preventing revolution to form a communist
Chapter 13 - “Analyzing Managerial Decisions: Bagby Copy Company MBA 540 Michelle Wilson August 9, 2015 There are many advantages and disadvantages to specific vs. broad task assignment. Assigning specific tasks to workers allows the company to hire specifically based on the ability of the worker to do a very specific job. In this way efficiency can be increased as a worker should be performing the job that he is comparatively best suited to perform and nothing else. Competition amongst workers can also be increased as there is a specific metric to judge by. The cost of training a worker is also reduced as the worker does not have to be trained in every aspect of the company only what he is going to be doing.
Spending money on training of these devices are also factors that must be considered this takes employees time and cost the company man hours and thus money that could be spent on other things. Lowes must continue to analyze the cost to decide whether these improvements are needed and continue to produce more of a profit with or without them. In the highly competitive market that Lowe’s is in strategic planning has helped them not only stay in business, but also maintain a competitive edge over the competition. Their initiative on energy conservation and concentrating on energy efficient products and materials has made good fiscal policy for the organization. This combination of cost savings and green policy provides Lowe’s with a low risk and positive image in today’s global
Going back to the selling to customers with a higher credit risk, while they say that they will review the aging of the accounts receivable on a daily basis, is that possible for Loren to do on top of all the other work that needs to be done? Or in this case would they need to hire another person to take some of Loren’s workload which would in the end cost even more money for the company. In each of these situations they are talking about spending more money to keep away from the risks that are mentioned, but if they get to the point where they are losing money because of the risk and also because of the extra position that they added, they could be in really big trouble
Technology Risk Presentation Tammy Radcliffe XACC/210 • Limitations of Technology for E-Business System Technology is crucial in the daily operations of any business. Production of services is related to the technology used and it encourages an increase in productivity. Upgrades in technology gives an organization advantage to the competition. This could be cost effective to the organization compared to hiring new employees and paying high salaries in the long run. Technology has had several downfalls as well.
Even though many of the employees are able to start employment with little training, this has led to the differences in human resource practices among regional managers which counter Tanglewood’s original philosophy. • Hire Yourself or Outsource Tanglewood should ultimately focus on “hiring yourself” for their human resource functions of hiring activities such as recruiting, selecting, and employment. At the rate in which Tanglewood is growing, it will ultimately be cheaper in the long term as Tanglewood becomes a large organization. By hiring yourself, Tanglewood will also be able to build on the centralized corporate/company culture in which they are looking for. By hiring yourself the company would be more familiar with current and past experiences the company has faced with different staffing situations and they would be able to improve on any mistakes they may have had.
2. What are the benefits to businesses (and others) of using information technology for doing work tasks? The benefits to businesses and to people of using IT for doing work tasks are multiples. We all show effectiveness and increased performance when we use a smart way of completing our tasks. Without information technology our work would be slow, poor quality and probably more frustrated peoples for both sides beneficiaries and workers.
New laws and regulations come about because of social and political changes. Organizations abiding by state and federal laws and regulations may result in the organization spending more money on additional taxes, new technology development, and legal fees. Competition may consist of the startup of a new organization offering similar services and products in the same marketplace, which presents a new challenge. The customers are the most critical in the environment. As the end-users, they will usually improve the organization’s image in the community because of satisfaction with the product or service, or ruin the image of the organization in the community because of dissatisfaction with the product or service.
Employees who are happy and engaged are critical business performance. Unfortunately in today’s business world traditional total rewards programs don’t drive employee engagement or happiness any more. Innovative and creative benefits should provide employees with intangible rewards to satisfy the employee’s needs and desires. Satisfied employees are not only happier at work but their productivity is usually far greater than unsatisfied employees. Most organizations are smart enough to realize that it takes more than just money to motivate and make happy employees.
