Journal 13 Stimulation Theory The Stimulation Theory states that everyone has a different level of need for stimulation. Stimulation is anything that gets positive attention, causes positive results and fulfills a need. There are many different types of stimuli, including emotional needs, relational needs, accomplishment, possessions, recognition ect. Many of these stimuli I can relate to and are needs that I need to fulfill. I am a very emotional person; therefore, it plays a role in why I do the things I do. If I am upset I will usually cry and become very emotional. Especially when I feel that someone is mad at me, this is when I am the most emotional. I like when people try to make me feel better and to be told that everything is okay. Also, I have relational needs in which I feel the need to be in a relationship and not be alone. I have a big fear of being alone and unwanted. It is important for me to keep close relationships with my family and friends as well. The need to feel accomplished is also a necessity for me. I don’t like the feeling of not succeeding or achieving anything. This is mostly a need for me with school, and striving to get good grades. Possessions are another stimulation that drives me. Certain belongings are very important to me and I like to have nice things. I would not say that I am spoiled because I work hard for the things that I have and am very appreciative. Last, recognition and being acknowledged is extremely significant; I love doing things for others and making others happy. I get a great feeling when I can help someone and I get great joy from seeing the look on someone’s
