Before the abuse, Mother would’ve done anything for her family. When the abuse started, mother thought of Dave as nothing. She treated Dave like an “It”. Dave’s relationship with his father was also weird. I don’t understand how father didn’t try to protect his son no matter what could’ve happened.
He would come back because he had no were else to go. He feels like Rena’s place is not”a home” but rather a place to stay for now. Lee is a very stubborn teen age. He “cut the connection” of the phone with his dad. This symbolizes the fact that lee is cutting the connection with his dad, this is stopping Lee from important part of his identity.
He did not want to go so he made up an excuse not to get it removed. “I don’t feel very well…”(59) he said. From that moment on, he was starting to take the camp much more serious, because he was scared. When they first arrived he went with his dad instead of his mom. And by the end of the first night he had
Fairly quickly the idea of playing outside went from “boisterous games” to being “too poor to sit in the house.” With this sentence the manipulation of Hurston’s point of view begins. Through the eyes of a child playing outside is a wonderful privilege. Through the eyes of Hurston’s mother, it was the only way to experience “any pleasure.” To Hurston’s parents, life was a test and they were trying to get themselves, and Hurston, through it. Hurston’s father had a negative point of view on life and always seemed to be putting Hurston down (for her own good perhaps?) he often threatened to break her spirit or “kill [her] in the attempt.” In a perhaps less blunt way, Hurston’s mother showed that she too, had a fearful and negative outlook on the world.
In the process of breaking the windows Holden also breaks his fist and is forced to visit the hospital. Since Allie died so young, Holden felt that his innocence was being taken away from him. Once Allie died, Holden believed that it was his responsibility to protect childhood. Holden says, “I’d just be the catcher in the rye” (Salinger 173), Holden believes he must prevent children from falling of the cliffs of childhood and losing their innocence as they fall into the pits of adulthood. Holden is chasing a dream that he cannot accomplish.
They were only about a mile from where they were. They found an old bunker and a cliff look-over. They started there. About 4 days in they finished the destroyed town. They went to go check the bunker out, but it was bolted shut and just decided not to try.
All the reader knew up until that point was that he disappeared and no one ever saw him again. But it turns out that earlier in the novel; there was a body that Jim would not let Huck see. The reader always that Jim thought it was because it was too mangled for Huck to see. This is situational irony because it is a complete different view on what happens after the novel ends. Now, Huck can get his money and never worry about returning to the awful care of Pap.
“The hardest part about growing up is letting go of what you were used to, and moving on with something you’re not” Anonymous. People learn a lot of things while growing up. The character Atticus Finch said to his son Jem in the book To Kill a Mockingbird “There's a lot of ugly things in this world, son. I wish I could keep 'em all away from you. That's never possible” (Lee 132).
Everyday many kids get physically and emotionally hurt. Some of the students step in while others look away. The first year of high school is one of the hardest years of a young boy’s life. I watched a freshmen boy being bullied throughout the year, whether he was being made fun of because of his size or being pushed around by the older stronger boys. Every time after having his books knocked out of his hands or being pushed against the lockers one could see the hurt he was going through.
After the death of Ali, Hassan and Baba, Amir was alone and left to not only sort out his own sins but also those of his father. Amir had learned to silence the guilt that bothered him. In The Kite Runner, Amir seems to have been born with the guilt of his father. When he was young he blamed himself for his mother’s death and believed this was why Baba had a problem with him: “ I always felt like Baba hated me a little. And why not?
