One sunny Sunday afternoon, her aunt brought her to a park to play. At the park one can see the green grass blowing gently in the summer breeze, dogs running to catch frisbees and a ball and stopping to drink water from a nearby creek. At the play area, there are ten children already playing. The play area is 50 feet in length and 60 feet in width. In the play area, there are a mini slide, monkey bars, a see-saw, a mini carousel, and a swing.
According to Martin and Fabes (2009), the five types of social play are called 1. solitary play, 2. onlooker play, 3.parallel play, 4. associative play, and 5. cooperative play. This significant concept that I learned can be used for future growth when I have my own children, I would be able to identify the type of social play they are engaged in when they go to preschool. The second significant concept I learned are gross motor skills. According to Martin & Fabes (2009), gross motor skills displays how the child moves about, controls his/her body, and uses their hands. I will be able to use this concept for future growth by finding out if my child is on track with their gross motor skills.
Unit 4 – children and play D1: Identify THREE (3) different settings where children might play. Three different settings were children might play are a local park, pre-school setting or a library. D2: State the typical age range and the stage of play of the children who might play in the setting. A local park: 3-6 years. Children at the lower end of the age range are likely to be at the associative play stage which means that they are more likely to play in a group but still be engaging in there on entertainment for example a group of children may be playing in the sand tray but still building their own sand castles.

Thalia’s touch on her shoulder brought her back. The other woman pushed, sliding Kay down the table. Nils must have guessed what she was doing, because he wrapped one strong arm around Kay, pulling her away from the table until her head rested on Thalia’s thigh. Right where she wanted to be. Perfect.
At lunch, girls sit with the girls and boys sit with the boys. During play time on the play ground boys tend to play on large fields and basketball courts while girls play on smaller spaces like the jungle gym or small concrete spaces where they can play hopscotch or jump-rope. The article states that “gender segregation
My attention is broken by the sound of a mother yelling “don’t you climb on there like that!” I look over to see a quite obese woman yelling at her daughter who is climbing the side of a slide trying to get to the top. She is older then the other children and hangs her head back looking at her mother with worry. She yells at her to get down and to go sit in time out for “acting up in public.” The girl cries and runs to her grand parents. The grandfather makes an, “ugh” sound and keeps reading on his tablet. Her grand mother hugs her and looks toward the obese woman criticizing her for not catching it sooner.
we had sea saws, monkey bars, an open field but nothing was comparing to the swings we had. our swings was the best and i knew it because all of us kids who wanted to swing on them had to wait in line. there was only four swings with a bunch of elementary school kids kindergarden through sixth grade waiting like a line at a dance club. we loved them swings down to the rusted old pipes but i dont think they loved us. the swings that was on our playground we're extremly rusty and squeeked alot but they we're still good to swing on.
All five foot and one hundred pounds of her. She was in her early sixties, with light blond hair and skin that had aged from years in sun. She would arrive in her full Nike outfit and sunglasses. Whistle in one hand and stop watch in the other. Of course when I refer to “she” I’m talking about our soccer coach, Mrs .McCool.
My observation took place at a Friday night football game. There were children from pre-school through high school in attendance. I focused my observation on a group of elementary age girls and a group of middle school boys and girls. The elementary age girls were very playful. They had a very happy go lucky attitude and just seemed to be enjoying the time with their friends.
