Gilgamesh and Enkidu decide to fight a terrifying demon named Humbaba, because he was standing on their way to meet gods. The two heroes managed to kill Humbaba. “ Gilgamesh swiftly cut the breast, splattering blood upon his cloak and sandals.” (page 34). On their way they met with Ishtar, the goddess of love, is overcome with lust for Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh rejects her.
In Sophocles “Oedipus the king”, Oedipus was sent to mount Cithaeron as a new born baby to die after his father (King Laius) was cursed by the gods and heard of a prophecy that his son is to kill his father and marry his mother (Queen Jocasta). The Shepard in charge of this could not kill the baby so instead Oedipus is adopted. Later Oedipus hears about the prophecy, and leaves, afraid that the prophecy would come true. Along the way he gets in a fight with a man and kills him, unknowingly his father. He then solves a riddle from the Sphinx, which has been terrorizing a kingdom, and in return, the kingdom gives him their queen's hand in marriage, which is his biological mother.
The suitor goddess wanted reconciliation for Gilgamesh’s unbelievable disrespect; Ishtar pleaded, successfully, convincing her father, Anu, to unleash the Bull of Heaven. The bull was quickly met and overcome by the duo’s fine teamwork, and after their swift victory the two would parade their accomplishments, Enkidu would even go so far as to through a slab of the dead bull’s thigh at Ishtar. Unbeknownst to the two, the gods were scheming against them planning to destroy the bond between Gilgamesh and Enkidu. It was then that Gilgamesh would reach the hardest point in his life; an event in which he could not tackle, Enkidu would die and leave Gilgamesh heartbroken and
Gilgamesh tells his newfound friend his plans and Enkidu agrees to help. The two of them venture on their journey to carry Gilgamesh plan out. Gilgamesh and Enkidu journey to the Cedar Forest where they defeat and kill Humbaba. For their cruel behavior Enkidu is sentenced to death by the Gods. Gilgamesh was so distraught by Enkidu’s death that he travels to find the flower of eternal life.
They lived in relative peace from around 1000 - 1100 AD when Mayap n overthrew the confederation and ruled for over 200 years. In 1441 the Maya who had previously ruled Uxmal destroyed the city of Mayap n and founded a new city at Mani. Wars were fought between rival Mayan groups over the territory until the region was conquered by the Spanish. Chichen Itza was first populated between 500 and 900 AD by Mayans and for some reason abandoned around 900, the city was then resettled 100 years later and subsequently invaded by Toltecs from the North. There are numerous reliefs of both Mayan gods including Chac and the Toltec gods including Quetzacoatl.
Gilgamesh sends prostitutes to have sex with Enkidu to make him more civilized. Gilgamesh and Enkidu eventually have a fight; however they become friends in the end after slaying a giant together. Enkidu becomes ill after a long journey with Gilgamesh and while dying he tells Gilgamesh about a dream he had. Gilgamesh learns of his inevitable fate and learns that Utnapishtim is the only being to have immortality so he seeks to learn how he can achieve the same. Utnapishtim had been warned that a great flood would be dealt to destroy all of mankind.
Gilgamesh was King of Uruk. Ishtar proposed marriage to King Gilgamesh and he rejected her with insults. He spoke of her past lovers and what they endured while with her. Ishtar then goes to her father, Anu, enraged from the insults. She commanded her father to let the bull of heaven free to wreak havoc amongst Gilgamesh.
In the between of story Enkidu was enemy first and became a great companion of Gilgamesh. One day Ishtar sends bull of heaven with the help of her parents. Bull of heaven was created by Enu and Antum. Bull of heaven came down to Mesopotamia and started destroying cities and villages, so Gilgamesh killed bull of heaven with the help of Enkidu. One night Enkidu had a dream of Ishtar cursing him that he will die of sickness and that dream did become true.
After reading the letter sent from Macbeth about the witch’s prophecy of him being the next King, she calls on spirits so they can mentally change her and make her manlier in thought. “Come, you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here And fill me from the crown to the toe topfull Of direst cruelty; make thick my blood, Stop up th’access and passage to remorse” (1.5.40-43). This quote basically states that Lady Macbeth believes that manhood is based on ruthless determination, lack of guilt, and unkindness. Ishtar was furious and hurt, talked to her father Anu, the god of the sky. Anu sent the bull of heaven, and the bull brought with him seven years of food scarcity. But once again, Gilgamesh and Enkidu managed to wrestle the bull and kill him. The gods got together in a meeting and decided that either Gilgamesh or Enkidu had to die as punishment for their behavior. They decide that the one that was going to die was Enkidu, and so he did of a slow and suffering death from a disease given to him by the gods (“Gilgamesh Summary”
