The Special Training Needs of Expatriate Managers An expatriate manager is the one who is the national of one country and is appointed to the management position in another country. With the rise in technology, concepts, ideology and other related things in contemporary global business world, recruiting foreign people in the management position has been raising because of its impact in business such as cost effectiveness, entry of new and fresh, energetic blood, diversity advantages etc. When a person is appointed to the management position in foreign country, it's a great opportunity and challenge to deal with the new people in business world. But the unforgettable thing is that because of the cultural differences, values and norms applied in his/her native country and the country where he/she is assigned for, there are many more things that managers should be provided the training or knowledge with. In another words, the hiring firm of the country should be careful about providing special training to such expatriate managers. Some discussion about what kinds of training needs are essential for such managers is depicted in the following paragraphs. Because of the fact that such managers work in foreign country, the most important thing the firm should consider is that such managers should be provided with such kinds of training where they can learn the impact of cultural differences and managers' awareness about such differences and their impact on business outcomes. The reason for this is that expatriate managers should face the problems in terms of culture, custom and other similar things if such training is not provided because the culture of his/her origin country and working might be partially or wholly different.
