In the one of the pictures provided by the NASA which stands for National Aeronautics and Space Administration who were also the ones that assigned the mission Apollo 11, no stars could be seen. But with common sense, one should see brighter stars when you are in outer space right? The authors explains that the conspiracy theorists are wrong.
When we landed on the moon it created a rehabilitated sense of patriotism in Americans, and that is what Krauthammer is striving for. That feeling of “wonder” and “glory” that we Americans have left behind in the last few decades. He is pushing us to realize we should not be content with mediocrity and we should strive as a country to learn everything we can about any subject possible, and open grand new possibilities for ourselves. Some of these possibilities may be a space station on the moon. It may be impractical , but most everyone loves seeing new exotic views, and nothing can be more bizarre than taking an outside look at your home planet.
Americans have become somewhat depressed and fearful. It is difficult to have adventuresome spirits while struggling to meet basic needs. If further space exploration, including that of Mars, can be proven to provide jobs and improve the economy, then Americans will be in favor of this. However, most people desire tangible proof. The people who are in favor of continuing the Mars exploration program are quick to point out that if every cent of the money allocated to their program were to be applied to the federal deficit, it would not even make a dent.
1.3 DESCRIBE HOW DISPLAYS ARE USED IN THE LEARNING PROCESS Displays in schools can be used in a lot of different ways. Some of the ways they can be used are to show school information, to display children’s topic work and to provide a resource for the children to use when learning. In our year 2 classroom we have been making a Space display to coincide with our Space topic. The display provides information like planets names and what they look like and it also incorporates the children’s work like pictures and models of stars, planets and rockets. The children really enjoy looking at the display and making models at home with their parents to add to the display.
This may not seem important now, but at the time both countries were conducting top-secret nuclear research and while they did not want to publicly reveal their progress, they did want to project the message to the world that—whatever progress they had made—it was better and farther along than the progress of their enemies. NASA’s space program became the United State’s poster-child of our technological achievement and, as such, it also became a tool of international intimidation and of national defense. When the Challenger Space Shuttle exploded over Cape Canaveral in 1986, it was like a giant sign flashing overhead that the US was not as capable and powerful as previous thought. President Ronald Reagan acted quickly in speaking to the country about the tragedy, but his aim was not simply to reassure the public that everything was okay. In his Challenger speech, President Reagan persuaded the American public to continue to support the space program through his appeal to traditional American values of exploration and discovery, national pride, and national unity.
In the late 1960’s the English reader saw America’s Launch as a threat to their hierarchy; so, the writer write his piece in a repetitive manner to imply to the viewer that the Launch was also dull, boring, and not a momentous accomplishment. The audience of the 21st century not only in England but the world assessment of Armstrong’s moon landing as an achievement for mankind. Not only does the Launch benefit America but all nations with an interest to organize a similar expedition or even if they do not have the resource America did to have the Launch they can use America’s as there source. One opinion universally shared in both generations is Neil Armstrong is a moon landing “god”, in the second article the reader can deduct from the reading the author was fairly fond of Mr. Armstrong. A person just newly aware of the Apollo 11 Launch, if informed with an unbiased view would also agree or share the same perspective as the original author that Armstrong is a man to looked upon as a national hero.
Frank Poole - The other astronaut who is awake for the entire journey to Saturn. Poole is mechanically skilled and is the one who makes extra-vehicular trips, one of which ultimately results in his death. Dr. Heywood Floyd - A senior government official. Floyd is sent to the moon to investigate TMA. He is an effective bureaucrat and a caring family man.
The author establishes pathos by talking about how this event has changed the world forever and also because he talks about death. The third and final text, A Symbol of Man’s Greatness, is about a man (the author) who is watching Apollo 11 take off in person at the space center. The purpose of this text is to tell the story about his personal experience and feeling about the historical launch to go to the moon. The interaction among the speaker and the audience effects the text because the speaker talks about their own personal experiences. The audience of this text would be anyone that read this article or book at that time or for people who are interested in reading it
Neil Armstrong Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon in 1969. This will talk about how the Expectancy- value theory and Incentive theory played a role in his life tremendously. Expectancy- value theory was a big part of Neil’s life. Expectancy is the likelihood of success and value is simply what the goal is worth to you. This applies to Neil Armstrong’s life because he was naturally interested in aviation.
Opposing viewpoints say that throughout life one can do that on their own, it doesn’t take college to figure that out. However, college “encourages students to think, ask questions, and explore new ideas, which allows for additional growth and development” (Importance of College Education). College offers many classes, and opportunities that’ll narrow someones options down to what they like to do, and what they want nothing to do with. Also, you can meet new people and expand your ways of thinking on what you want to do in life; open your mind to new ideas (The Value of Education 41). Being open-minded to learn or do new things can show one's true passion for a profession.
