The man landing on the moon was the most important of the things achieved in the space race. The reaction of the people in the United States when man landed on the moon was a sense of accomplishment and I think that strived us to keep trying to have more success in space.
This began the history of the Space Race. In order to prove that they are Superior to Soviet Union, the United States worked to gain technology supremacy. To do so, the congress passed the National Defense Education Act, which heavily funded children who were seeking a higher education. However, Soviet Union kept launching successful space missions such as the Sputnik 2 mission and the launchings of the first man in space. The United States tried to out-do Soviet Union’s space missions by landing the very first man on the moon.
The Air Quality Monitor seperates different gasses in smokestacks and determins the amount of gases present so as to meet the smokestack emission requirements. NASA has also influenced our transportaion. A few of the benefits accosiated with these are: Aids to schoolbus design, better brakes, studless winter tires and improved aircraft engines. The school bus;s chassis was redone with NASA technology., making the vehicle safer in the event of an accident. Brakes have been improved with high temperature composite space material that helps improve the lining and strength.
NASA technology also has been adapted for many non-aerospace uses by the private sector. NASA remains a leading force in scientific research and in stimulating public interest in aerospace exploration, as well as science and technology in general. Perhaps more importantly, our exploration of space has taught us to view Earth, ourselves, and the universe in a new way. Every aircraft utilizes technology pioneered by NASA. New industries have been built on space technology, including personal computers, advanced medical equipment, communications satellites, weather forecasting and natural resource mapping.
Each accomplishment recognized represented an upgrade in score for those who were keeping tabs (everyone really). Yet even though the outcome was favorable for a certain organization in points the real “winner” was determined by the transporting a human to the moon, first. The beginning was marked on October 4, 1957 when the Soviet Union (USSR) launched a satellite into orbit (The USA hadn’t done anything close to this at this point) around the Earth. Sputnick 1 (as it was named) was then followed by Sputnick 2 making an even bigger impact on the USSR’s standing considering it now became the first satellite to carry life (a dog named Lika) from Earth to space. And, in an attempt to catch up (as they probably
While it is true that Earth has benefitted from past space exploration, it remains very important for the leaders of America to weigh the pros and cons of further exploration. They must take into consideration today’s economy and the fact that many people are much more concerned about their jobs here on Earth, rather than worrying about exploring other planets. American exploration of Mars began in the late 1990s, and since that time, the United States has sent eight different vehicles to the Red Planet (Kluger 24). All of this exploration has been very expensive for the American taxpayers. Recently, the idea of privatizing the business of sending cargo and astronauts into low-earth orbit has become a reality.
The Soviet Union dominated much of the early aspects of the space race. However, the United Stated used a methodical building approach that was achieved due to the earlier stages of the space race, Project Gemini and Mercury achievements, and the manned mission to the moon. The Space Race was a milestone in human history, its beginning will always be remembered as a race between two battling super powers of the time. Astronaut Neil Armstrong fulfilled as dream as old as humanity as he took the first human steps onto a planetary body, “That's one small step for man. One giant leap for mankind."
Sending people to live on Mars is another giant leap for mankind's history and progression. Curiosity is a major reason to extend our science to Mars. Landing and living on Mars could reveal and answer many questions that scientists and society would like to
When a county is single handedly supported by one program like NASA you live and die by it. NASA provided thousands of jobs for the people of Brevard County directly in the space center and also indirectly giving local businesses customers to bring in revenue. This is why it’s not good
Explorer 1 had an orbital life cycle of about twelve years, and mission duration of four months. Upon re-entry to earth in 1970, it had completed an astounding 58,000 orbits around the Earth. At the same time as the Vanguard rockets (the satellites proceeding Explorer 1), President Eisenhower and the rest of his cabinet were trying to decide under which agency this new “space” issue fell under the jurisdiction of, to which they found no answer. President Eisenhower instated the National Aeronautics and Space Act which was the creation of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration or more commonly known as NASA. NASA would go on to become the most influential organisation in the world in relation to anything space related.
