Patrick Henry: Eh, I would say I am quite a bit of a leader. I'm very proud of my country and I wouldn't want anything but the freedom of living in it. “Give me Liberty, or give me death!” As I always say. “I know no way of judging of the future but by the past.” That's why I believe we should always make sure that we have a good, clean, and proud, present and past. For the certainty of the same in the
Equality 7-2521 says that “the guiding star is within me” and that it points to just one direction, and that direction is “me”. What is a guiding star supposed to do? It is told that it leads the way to the right direction. That right direction does not necessarily have to be used as in a driving direction or walking, but the roadmap to a successful life. Something I like to say when I have a new goal is that “We can accomplish anything, as long as we set our my mind to do
Paragraph 9 starts out instantly by stating how dear unity is to a people. Without it, there is no Independence, tranquility, peace, safety, prosperity, or Liberty. Our harmony will be the aspect in our lives most targeted by those who wish to control them. As stated in the quote up above, we must be attached to our unity, look down and cast away any attempt to separate our people from one another. There are sacred ties that hold us together, and we must do all we can not to weaken them, but to sustain them in every way.
Instead, we need to “make the air” in our lungs our “livelihood” which implies that we need to do something that matters to us, not anyone else, and it needs to be something that we will be truly proud of. This quote also suggests that we should not do anything to please others if we are not enjoying it ourselves; we should do something that makes us happy. The poet also wants the reader to notice the little things that make our lives great like the nature, by using the words like “sky”, “birds” and “sand”. This suggests that when our tasks become plenty, we should stop, “breathe”, and take a break; for not doing so causes us to become stressed and prohibits us from doing our
He will always remember how much he once loved Miss Kinnian so much and now he can’t even talk to her right without having her cry. He might always want to have that feeling of being smart, but he will never get the chance. Charlie will always be remembered for being dumb, foolish, and the first human to fail to triple his IQ, not for the sweet, kind, nice young man that he really was. Charlie was a young man with a lot of desire to read; unfortunately that great desire led him to a horrible experience. He actually risked his life and tried to triple his IQ, by going through a surgery.
Grant tells Jefferson that he is more of a man that he could ever be, and that we all need him. In Jefferson diary he admits his thoughts. He talks about how it is difficult for him to sleep at night, because all he dreams about is going through the door of his execution. He confesses why he acted the way he did in the beginning to Grant, and Miss Emma, he says it was because no one ever told him that they loved him so he wasn’t sure how to do the same. He confesses that he cries a night because he is scared, and because Grant has been so good to him.
Justice will be served John. Now, all I ask you is to protect the people of Salem and your children. John remember, you don’t have to confess, it be your choice. As you will I would have it. Never forget what a great man you are.
Of what I’ve read so far in “The Things They Carried”, all of the stories that the author tells seem to end in sorrow. Well of course, war itself isn’t the happiest of things, but I at least expected a story about winning a battle or something along those lines. The poem, “Thoughts of You” captures the essence of the relationship between Mark Fossie and Mary Ann. Lines from the poem, such as “Thoughts of you make me smile” or “Thoughts of you give me strength” shows how Mark thought of Mary before she flew over to Vietnam. The thought of her made him stronger, and helped him cope with the stresses of the war.
John attempts to communicate with Kathy while he is away, but Kathy for the most part lets him down through some of her degrading letters. A handful of the letters were cheerful and full of great detail, but many contained doubts or negative thoughts that she had. One letter that really hurt John read, “All those dead people, John, they don’t vote”(36). This letter only made him feel abused by Kathy and showed how unsupportive she was to him. Furthermore, letters like this only built up his issues with anger and rage because the one person he needed support from, was not giving it, leaving no one for him to escape to.
If I had replaced this very audience with friends who I know, then my fear of presenting would be eliminated. Similarly, Dr. Seuss’ poem carries the same main message. The main character was scared of the flying pants throughout the entire reading as he was unfamiliar with the pants. He is uncertain of their motive, and thus feels as the pants present harm. His uncertainty is
