During adult-led activities we are in control of the teaching we are providing. However, what we cannot have any control over is what young children are learning from these activities. This is why it is important to balance adult-led activities with time and opportunity for children to explore their own ideas, play with resources and use their imagination and creativity. Through doing this and practising the skills that they have learned the children will be able to take ownership of their learning and be able to apply it in different situations.
It also helps your child to make connections in their thinking and the way in which problem are solved. This is also going to help your child to develop their self- esteem and self-confidence and also their imagination. Creative development will also improve their learning as children will be able to work together in groups and as a team. Creativity is about taking risks and making connections. It is a way of transforming things using media and materials such as paint, scissors, words, sounds, movement and props.

My fears for the course are that I discover some things about myself that I may not like but I suppose it is all about self discovery as well. I hope that the course will help me to further myself in my life and also me personally. I hope to achieve a new more confident me, that doesn’t shy away from confrontation and is able to speak my mind in a clear and concise manner.
