They argue the Buy Nothing Day would wake the world to take on the environmental problems that consumerism has created. This argument is flawed. and wrong. Consumerism has created new ways of recycling products and much more. Companies are forced to create safer products for the public to use, and also learn to make better with fewer resources.
Thus it capitalized on known wastes issues by shifting responsibility onto the taxpayer to the tune of millions in costs laden on the town after receiving benefit of a free waste facility and over-taxing the public waste management in not bothering to updated it’s gifted sewage plant. Cost after cost was pinned onto these gifts as no good deed went unpunished, the town ended up spending many millions more in just cleaning up after the company it subsidized by buying more land to dispose of waste. All of this was initiated by Seabound in Albert Lea as it did with many towns, by grooming it with feel good agenda designed to elicit better subsidy packages. The promise of more jobs to strengthen the local economy, after a downturn preceded by previous companies failing, cleared the way for millions of easy dollars being funneled into the coffers of Seabound with added side benefits. The price of work was cheap but Seabound found an even cheaper price in hiring desperate immigrant workers on wages barely livable.

Drew Allert Wedemeyer 2A Synthesis Essay The world has a limited supply of natural resources, most everyone can agree on this fact. The controversy that comes with the idea of “going green” is the way to treat these resources, while knowing this fact. Without natural resources, the earth cannot support life, and there are many who would say that America’s government should take the initiative to lead the rest of the world on being more “green”, to conserve the resources for future generations. The government has the authority to make this type of change- to pass laws in order to force companies and individuals to be more conservative. Company Q has recently closed a couple of stores due to a pattern of lost profits. These two stores were in high-crime-rate areas.

The many ideas surrounding pollution prevention are quite often simple, but due to economic impacts, these options are not always favorable because worldwide governments want the most successful economy possible, and
We could ask our city officials to bring back water fountains. We could work to ban the use of bottled water in schools or entire city. This video has opened my eyes.
