Our society uses a lot of electricity. Scientists want to save electricity for their or our country; therefore, they invented water energy, wind energy, nuclear energy, solar energy and many more. This essay will discuss what solar energy is and what its advantages and disadvantages are. Solar energy is the radiant light and heat from the sun that has been harnessed by humans since ancient times using a range of ever-evolving technologies. This essay uses two articles: the first one is “Solar Energy Advantage,” written by Anita Van Wyk and found in Ezinearticles. The second one is “Disadvantage of Solar Energy,” written by Kallie Szczepanski and found in International Debate Education Association. This essay will discuss why solar energy should be used in our society. First of all, I will explain why I agree with Anita Van Wyk’s views on solar energy. One, it will save money. Anita Van Wyk said that if your solar panels absorb more energy than you need, you can sell it to the Electricity Company to get more money. It can also save money on your electricity bill at home. Two, it will protect the Earth. Anita Van Wyk said that solar energy is very clean and will not produce harmful elements such as carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide. As a result, it will not contribute to the green house effect. Finally, it requires low or no maintenance. Anita Van Wyk said a solar panel can last for almost ten years. Moreover, if your family is larger, it is easy to add another solar panel without destroying the other ones. It is clear that Anita Van Wyk and I share the same opinions on solar energy. Now let’s take a look at Kallie Szczepanski’s viewpoints on this issue. Secondly, I will now inform you of the reasons why I disagree with Kallie Szczepanski’s opinion on solar energy.
