Mr Birling appears not to know the difference. The Inspector, through what he says tries to show the Birling’s how dangerous, selfish and immoral their social lifestyles are. The Inspector repeatedly undermines Mr Birling although he is of higher status “there are a lot of young women…if there weren’t the factories and warehouses wouldn’t know where to look for cheap labour” This shows that the Inspector knows how business works and how the workers are exploited by Mr Birling, by calling them cheap it suggests they have no value. The Inspector also tries to teach Mr Birling what he is doing is wrong “it’s better to ask for the earth than to take it” this is a lesson to Mr Birling that at least Eva Smith asked for a rise. Mr Birling takes all of his money without asking anyone.
Weber believed it was linked to the type of job people could get, Weber thought differently to Marx about this, as marx believed it was due to owning factories or other resources, and weber thought it was due to skills and qualifications. Weber’s idea of class influenced the ideas of other sociologists, such as goldthorpe (1980). Goldthorpe derived a stratification scale which includes the Weberian concept of market position. This was felt by sociologists to be a more accurate technique of studying stratification, as a pose to just studying peoples jobs. Weber was skeptical about the possibility of the working class bonding together for revolutionary purposes, for example becoming class-conscious because of differences in status would always undermine any common cause.

The amendment act was disliked by the poor population of the country because of the leissez-faire system the government had in place, the government’s approach on leissez-faire was to intervene as little as possible with the direction of economic affairs. The Labor Movement in America has made much progress since the beginning in the 1800’s. Along with a higher standard of living, labor unions came into being from this movement. Labor unions had a rough start in the beginning; and even today are not perfect. Labor unions have had a great effect on the Labor Movement and continue to make an effect today. One theory about the origin of labor unions is that workers formed them because the Industrial Revolution gave employers too much power [1].
It shows us how important is each human’s life is. There are many people on this world who are hurting themselves by cutting themselves or by committing suicides. They think that their lives are miserable and don’t believe in themselves because they are not strong enough. “There were not only adults who participated in the works and demonstrations, but also children” (Fefles). By watching this documentary 4 Little Girls or by reading passages like chapter 15 people might start to realize that if a person really wants something he could achieve it by fighting for it.
The Inevitability of Negative Consequences of the Industrial Revolution The perception of the industrial revolution as a key factor in changing the way of life is a fair statement. It is termed a “revolution” because the changes it produced were great and sudden. This revolution first appeared in Britain in the 1700s, fostering attitudes toward capitalism and modern industry everywhere. New traditions replaced old traditions, machinery replaced people, and people moved to urban cities from rural areas; simply, the way of life had been changed forever.
