It is my duty to take care of vulnerable adults and to ensure that their needs and well-being are looked after. I exercise reasonable care with respect to individuals’ best interests, this includes protecting service users from any harm or abuse that may occur and avoiding any acts that could result in injury but it also means respecting service users and giving them choices. I am proficient enough to ensure that every service user is taken care of in a reasonable, responsible and respectful manner. It is my role to ensure that my duty is carried out safely and effectively working alongside my organisation’s policies and procedures. These are the standards of care working which put a person’s life choices first. They include: • promoting someone’s independence and individuality • respecting their privacy • preserving their dignity • working in partnership with them and respecting their right to make choices. Why is it important to work in ways that embed person centred values? When you work in a way that embeds person-centred values you are supporting the people you work with so that they can live the life that they choose to.
Identify standards that influence the way the role is carried out. I need to adhere to the GSCC codes of practice for social care worker and do the following • Protect the rights and promote the interests of service users and carers • Strive to establish and maintain the trust and confidence of service users and carers • Promote the independence of service users whilst protecting them as far as possible from danger or harm • Respect the rights of service users whilst seeking to ensure that their behaviour does not harm themselves or other people • Uphold public trust and confidence in social care services • Be accountable for the quality of their work and take responsibility for maintaining and improving their knowledge and skills 3. Describe ways to ensure that personal attitudes or beliefs do not obstruct the quality of work. I am responsible of delivering an equal, non discriminatory service to all of my service users. My personal beliefs never affect my work and I have to value each individual’s personal choices regarding their own life.

In this lens it is taught to focus on the processes, and the systems needed for an ethical organization. The difference between the first two lens discussed is that the Right and Responsibility Lens, and the Results lens focused on the individual, the Relationship lens focuses on the community. However in the relationship lens it has a few more concerns, such as how to protect the basic liberties of all people. These liberties are broken down into rights such as; The right to notice, The right to voice, not to veto, The right to have contracts honored. The Relationship Lens helped influence my decision by giving us a process by which basic liberties can be protected.
They enable you to provide a good quality service working within the legal framework and most importantly aim to keep you and the individuals you support, safe from danger or harm. To implement agreed ways of working you follow the Policies and Procedures and the service users care plan, where the management of the individual's daily care needs are agreed and documented. It is extremely important to have up to date agreed ways of working as there may be changes in policies within the law. Our company may have to implement them to help protect the vulnerable. You have a duty to keep service users safe by following policies, procedures and working within your job role.
In professional community, integrity enhances personal commitments to the code of ethics set forward by the professional organization. It involves decision making in the frame of mind as to what is right, instead of what will make me look better than others. It will help people act in a fair and a responsible manner. In personal settings, integrity leads
The term ‘duty of care’. It is an obligation of everyone working in the social care sector to have a duty of care. When working with vulnerable individuals it means to act in a way that ensures they do not come to harm, as a result of the care I give or not give or what I failed to do. I am expected to act in a way that puts the clients first; their needs and their safety are of paramount importance. By following the codes of practice for social care workers and the company policy, the care worker should act in a way that promotes their independence but at the same time keeps them safe.
For example if the resident doesn’t wish to be washed by a male member of staff this should influence all areas of that persons care. Each individual should be treated with respect and dignity. Each person is to be looked at as a whole not just one aspect of there needs. 1.3 Person centred values should influence all aspects of social care work. There should be the best possible care provided to the individual and be meeting all needs that’s are required.
What is the relationship between personal and professional values, ethics and the legislative framework for Social Work This essay will focus on the relationship between personal and professional values, ethics and the legislative framework for social work. The ethical tensions and dilemmas encountered will be considered first. The essay will then examine how philosophical theory may be able to assist in resolving the dilemmas. Attention will be paid to the role of legislation in decision making. The Hyacinth Berry case study will be used throughout to identify and discuss the interconnections of values, ethics and legislation.
