History and memory are both multifaceted ideas that are challenged continually. History is often perceived as fact, in the recount of an event or retelling of a story that did in fact, take place. Through study however, it becomes clear that history is a consequence of memory, which makes it unreliable and changed by circumstance.
Canada showed how independent of a country it is during WWI, after WWI, during WWII, and after WWII which was the post war. World War I was the main key source that caused Canada to grow drastically and be more independent than ever before. Canada’s soldiers made huge contributions and turned out to be a successful fighting force in the whole war. They went from being totally disrespected and deemed weak to gaining great respect and becoming the allies. Pictures can win awards not wars, but that is exactly what this picture did for the U.S in 1945.

The Propaganda Machine History can be a source of great national pride or great national shame, but it is something that everyone should be truthfully familiar with.
