Parent's have their influence on teens to a great extent and the result of this bad influence is alcoholic teens following the principle, like parents, like children.In recent years it's known that people who have/had alcoholic parents are more likely to develop the diorder themselves. Most teens try alcohol for the first time at home and that is where the parents can be held responsible. Instead of the parents influence their children to drink alcohol, they should talk and make it clear to their adolescents that drinking impairs coordination and decision making abilities. Drunk driving is the leading cause of death for people from the age of six to thirty-three years old (Curran, 1). One in three people will be involved in an alcohol-related crash in their lifetime (MADD, 1). Everyday thirty-six people in the United States die due to the crashes and approximately 700 more are injured in car crashes that involve alcohol-impaired drivers. This year, 10,839 people will die in drunk-driving crashes; one every fifty minutes (MADD, 1). “Cracking down on those who take drugs or drink and then drive is a year round commitment for Warwickshire and West Mercia.”- West Mercia Police.

This idea basically represents a vast amount teenagers, and/or young adults in college who consistently have intentions of obtaining alcohol for their own satisfaction. Likewise, mature adults like parents are also negligent when supplying alcohol to minors of family or friends. The drinking age should remain at 21 so that further traffic accidents, teen pregnancies and physical/sexual assaults may potentially remain at a minimum. These actions will direct the United States in a positive, stronger direction
College students should take into account of their lives as they are tossing back indigenous amounts of liquor. A heavy amount of liquor consumed in a short period is not good on the body or the mind. It is highly unlikely that college students are able to quit binge drinking at the sight of more people around them doing the same things. Prevention of this horrific trend should have been laid to rest ages ago but yet colleges have let it grow substantially to where it is almost impossible to stop or control. As adults and parents, we need to put an end to the constant self destructive ways of our youth and future
Since teenagers are immature to make their own decision, it is vital for adults to inculcate a correct attitude towards drinking. Nevertheless, it seems that nowadays many schools and parents only focus teenagers’ academic development. They neglect teaching youngsters with a sense of individual responsibility after drinking. Because of ignorance and lack of education from adults, teenagers have not take health issues into account after drinking harder alcohol. As a result, the problem of alcohol abuse and drinking deaths become graver among college students.

“More than 1,700 college students in the U.S. are killed each year—about 4.65 a day—as a result of alcohol-related injuries” (The Marin Institute). With a number as high as this, lowering the drinking age would only increase this ongoing problem of underage drinking. It has even been proven by the Marin Institute to be the leading cause of death among teenagers. Many adults feel as if the 18 to 21 age groups cannot handle drinking responsibly, then they should not be permitted to use it. Alcohol is a very serious depressant and one of the leading problems for death (Hanson, 2007).
The teens often get involved in many kinds of drinking games such as beer pong, flip cup and kings cup to name a few. As the night goes on, teens begin to get drunk and bad decisions are being made. Young teens could get very drunk because of excessive drinking and begin to get sick, which could lead to alcohol poisoning. Worst of all, others may get behind the wheel of a car and attempt to drive themselves or others home. These are just a few of the problems that happen today to our teens.
Teens will not have the thrill of breaking the law. It will just seem like a thing people do, but in moderation. Teens find it thrilling to do something that's forbidden. Take it from me, I am a 17 year old teenager. When someone tells me not to do something, it makes me want to do it more.
An average someone is affect the offender but also other innocent victims around them. Killed by a drunk driver every 40 minutes, in 2007, an estimate of 12,998 people died in drunk driving related cashes- a decline of 3.7 percent from the 13,491 drunk related fatalities in 2006. In 2002, 2.3 percent of Americans 18years and older, surveyed reported alcohol impaired including 50 percent of 18 – 21 year old. Alcohol is never right for an underage, and when an underage as a very high alcohol consumption and get behind the wheels its like hell on the wheel because he control himself not to talk of controlling the wheels and when he can’t do that, he crashes into someone else. One of the biggest and oldest organization that has been against drunk driving is MADD- which stand for mothers against drunk driving.
