Gaetan Rohr English 68 Social Networking: The Wrong Way of Communication The Social Networking is the most popular online activity. Based on the information from the website ‘socialnetworkingwatch.com’ in December 2011: “82% of the world’s internet population over the age of 15 log on social network”. Facebook comes out at the top of the list across the world. The social network has the number one spot in 127 out of the 136 countries. Indeed, the world’s communication is changing. Do people still see and call each other as usual? Not as much because it’s all about the social networking now. In the main, the social networking has changed the way of people communicate with each other. They post photos, videos, and status all the time; in general, they share their own lives with family, friends, and acquaintances over internet. Moreover, the population on the social networking has increased enormously since few years that creates a different way of communication between people. Indeed, from the source ‘www.socialnetworkingwatch.com’ on the 24th April 2012: “Facebook: 850M monthly active, 250M photos uploaded every day, and 425M mobile users; Twitter: 465M accounts, 175M tweets a day, and 1M accounts are added to Twitter every day; Instagram: 30M users and the release of the Android app version saw 1M downloads in 1 day; Pinterest: one of the top 10 largest social networks with 11M visits per week and 10.4M registered user”. Those facts show how people connect differently with each others more and more every day. Then, because of the Social Networking almost half of Americans avoid the real fact of communication (face to face) that can cause problems in relationships.
