Introduction In this assignment I am going to cover the role of the teacher, the responsibilities that they have in the education and training environment. I will also discuss how to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for your learners. To end the essay I will discuss the relationship teachers have with other professionals who work in the education and training arena. The teaching role and responsibilities in education and training 1.1 Explain the teaching role and responsibilities in education A teacher adopts many roles within the learning environment and has many responsibilities. One of the key responsibilities I feel for a teacher is to provide information, wisdom.
Describe own role and responsibilities and those of others in the team My role of a Teaching Assistant is extremely important in the class room. I am there to support the pupils and the teacher in charge as well as other staff working in the school. A teaching assistant is responsible for preparing the class room ready for the day ahead as well as clearing the classroom after the school day. The Teaching assistant is required to float between pupils helping them to confidently complete their work and tasks set. We are also required to sometimes work with individual groups of pupils on set tasks or individually with pupils who need one to one support.
As defined in the An Introduction to the Profession of Social Work Becoming a Change Agent textbook, “generalist social work practice is defined as social work practice backed with broad range of training an primarily used to guide and coordinate service” (p.155). To me a generalist social worker basically practice skills to help aid families, communities, groups and individuals with their life problems. There are several types of employment/occupational settings for social work practice. Some are child social workers, family social workers, school social workers, healthcare social workers, mental health social workers and substance abuse social workers. Child, family, and school social workers are pretty much in the same category.
E1: There are many parts to the role of the practitioner when they are meeting children’s learning needs some of these are working with families, providing a positive environment, and the children wellbeing. Working with families”, you should always make sure that you are approachable and friendly towards all parents so that they are happy about leaving their child with you” (Tassoni, 1999, pg. 315). This helps to meet children’s learning needs as the child’s primary career has a better understanding of the child and may be able to support the child when they are at home. I have seen this at placement where they run parent consolation’s twice a term, and if the teacher needs to see the primary career, they arrange meeting.
An outline of what is meant by ‘agreed ways of working’. The term ‘agreed ways of working’ relates to the way an employee must work and the rules that they must adhere to. As an employee you should work in a way that is clearly set out in the job description – this will then mean that you know what areas of care you would be responsible for and those that should be reported to a higher member of staff etc. Bi) What is it? If you are not part of the planning you can still speak to the teacher about what will be happening and offer ideas and suggestions of your own. 1.1 continued Role of teacher Role of teaching assistant • To be responsible for planning and preparing to the National or Early Years Curriculum • To plan and prepare work alongside the teacher • To teach pupils according to their educational needs • To support learning activities • To access, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of pupils • To assess/evaluate children’s work as directed by the teacher • To take responsibility for all other adults within
3.1 Explain how the teaching role involves working with other professionals. 3.2 Explain the boundaries between the teaching role and other professional roles. As a training officer at webs training I am required to heavily communicate with other professionals within my job role. Firstly I work with other training officers at work to produce an equal and fair education to the pupils a good example of this is if a training offices is absent one day there will be a structured lesson plans to follow so the officer that is covering can pick up the lesson plan adjust it to meet there needs and be able to provide a good lesson even if it’s not the trade area there back ground is from. Other professionals I work with are supervisors/mentors
This seems to work but there are times I feel under pressure to offer support and guidance to them within both roles, this can mean disruption within the classroom so I have to encourage them to contact their own assessors with any queries they may have. My role as a teacher begins with the induction process, which includes all the necessary paperwork for the college, as well as the portfolio paperwork required. The process of supporting the learners with getting to know each other, feeling confident etc, as for many of them they are returning to learning after a long spell away from academic work, is vitally important in order for them to continue with the course as well as making their learning experience a positive one. In terms of the teaching training cycle, I endeavour to take this on board within my role, by beginning with assessing learner’s needs to ensure the
The word teacher is responsible for informing or teaching someone something. But not everyone would have the same image of a teacher. I personally have an image of a teacher as being someone who is kind, loving, gentle, patient, and understanding. When I think of the word teacher, I get the visual image of a person standing by a desk helping a child with their school work. My own thoughts of what I believe a teacher should be, along with my life experiences and goals all contribute to why I want to be a teacher.
