Soccer Striker Soccer, or Football as it is called in some countries, is one of the fastest growing sports in the world with having a unique title of being a truly global sport. Soccer is a team sport which consists of 11 players at different positions. Although all positions are important but the one that grabs the attention and spot light would be striker or the forward position. Their main responsibility is to score for their side which is the main purpose of the game. The team with more goals wins. Fernando Torres (Spain, Liverpool FC) , Ronaldo (Brazil, Corinthians) , Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast, Chelsea FC), Wayne Rooney (England, Manchester United FC) and Lionel Messi (Argentina, FC Barcelona) are some of the few great strikers that the world has produced. So what is that they have that makes them great: Speed: Strikers would need to be fast on the ground especially near the goal in order to outrun the defenders and reach a reasonable position to go for a shot on goal. Stamina Strikers need to be on top of the game and be ready for any attack or counter attack. As soccer is a fast game the striker would need to be ready for any opportunity from anywhere to be able to do his job. A striker without stamina is like going out to war with only 1 bullet. Agility Opportunities can come at any time and at any angle. Strikers must have the agility to take these opportunities whether by a diving header, or a sliding intersect or an over head kick. Intelligence Strikers should not only be fast of the field but also need to fast on their feet. Knowing the next possible moves would take the advantage of the opponent and create chances for a great win. Possession Keeping the ball can be a challenge when the defenders job is to make sure that the ball does not stay in their D. Strikers should have be quick on their feet in order to keep possession.
