There’s no way America will ever make the use of tobacco products illegal; they mean too much money in government coffers, so to speak. Limiting access to cigarettes, snuff and chewing tobacco so minors can’t buy or shoplift the stuff is fine by me. Publishing companies and other industries didn’t ban smoking inside their facilities because of local ordinances; they did it for savings in insurance costs and a decrease in the number of smoke-fouled computers and smoke-sickened workers. Business owners with any acumen at all have instituted bans with or without the law telling them that they must do so. It’s the economical and prudent thing to
The result is a society where fanatical, destructive behavior, such as the firemen's book-burning, flourishes. People in Montag’s society have been conditioned to think the suggestion of reading is a laughable subject as expressed in the quote, “Do you ever read any of the books you burn?’ He laughed. ‘That's against the law!’ ‘Oh. Of course.’” (8). The people in Montag’s society are banned by their government to read anything that has any philosophies or intellectual thought.
Zubair Abedin Block 4 The theme of the story Fahrenheit 451 written by Ray Bradbury is censorship. They live in the future where books are banned and the people are uneducated. If people have books in there possession then they’re in danger of getting in trouble by the authority. The main character of this book is Guy Montag who is a fireman, but in the future firemen start fires instead of putting them out, they start the fires in places that have books in them. Government should not be able to make personal decisions for society because it disrupts lifestyles and ultimately does not benefit people.
Any factors can result in long-lasting changes in the loss of smell due to various allergies and various types of surgeries, but no linkage to death at all. The death of that 39% of adults may be due to any of the factors mentioned by the researchers themselves, such as age, nutrition, smoking habits, poverty, and overall health- all of which are huge possible lurking variables that can cause biased
If I can stop smoking, that means everybody can, too. Smoking kills people. Remember that, people. Do not give into peer pressure for smoking because it isn’t worth it, and it’s hard as hell to quit smoking. Smoking doesn’t make you cool or feel cool.
Just Say “No” to Lowering the Drinking Age Many people in the United States do not think outside the box. In comparison to other countries we stick to very strict guidelines and rules. For example: in Amsterdam, public are able to go to any restaurant and smoke marijuana. As we all know that would never happen in the U.S. There are many issues we have to look at as a whole.
At least have a distant designated smoking area away from others. Especially, when statistics show 2nd hand smoke is just as harmful as smoking a cigarette directly. Even some hospitals test for nicotine as part as their pre-employment screening. A lot of other employees of XYZ Check are heavenly opinionated with this topic amongst themselves or with their private circle of friends. However, I understand it’s hard to raise the question, when you have the VP of Operations, Supervisor’s, as well as the CEO and COO smoking in areas that clearly should be non- smoking zones, to name one, THE FRONT DOOR ENTRANCE, luckily it’s an outside entrance.
Premier John Brumby is big in the spotlight at the moment after announcing that there will be a ban on entering a nightclub, pub or bar from 2am onwards. In reaction to this ban, some members the public see this ban as just outrageous while others believe t hat brumby is just out of ideas. In two articles, locals Lachlan Brown and Damien R express both their view on the subject. Lachlan argues that the new ban is just ridicules, and with a sarcastic and aggravated tone aims his article at those who enjoy the nightlife. Damien’s article also suggest that the 2am lockout is pointless, but leans more towards the fact the John Brumby is really just out of ideas.
Moreover, if we ban smoking in public places, we also stop the smokers from further increasing their chances of acquiring health problems for themselves (backing statement). While it can be said that not all people who smoke in public areas are always causing harm to others, it remains a fact that smoking per se is a cause of health problems (rebuttal). It is not enough to say that the size of affected people are relatively just a small fraction; plenty or few, one person put at risk is more than enough (rebuttal). It is only the case that smoking in public places, therefore, should be
Even people who smoke do not like to walk past a cloud of smoke (Berg). Over the past two decades, medical research has shown that non-smokers suffer many of the diseases of active smoking when they breathe secondhand smoke. (“Secondhand Smoking Facts”). Secondhand smoke is obviously worse than even smoking and students and staff should not have to be exposed to such harmful chemicals while at school. Smoking should not be allowed on school properties or campuses.
